News: A bill to end subminimum wage for disabled workers federally was just re-introduced in the House. This comes after the federal government withdrew a potential rule to end it federally.

Repeated illness with significant risk of disability is not inevitable.

We get amazing protection from high-quality masks (e.g., n95, p100). Give/get mask mutual aid here: maskbloc.org

We can also clean the air! In schools, models of filtering show a 50% reduction in risk of illness.
Indoor air monitoring goes to school
Across the US, schools have begun measuring air quality en masse. Researchers are helping interpret the data

A new book asks, “Who had the audacity to prevent the death and disability of children?”

Here’s an accessibly-written review of the science and the grim reality that the danger to kids is repeated exposure to COVID, not school closures.

5.8 million kids with long COVID in the US. So far.

The departmental cuts, and the LAFD chief’s numerous complaints about them, are well-documented in public records, everyone was right to report on that story, and yet Aaron & his ilk have been happy to run interference for Bass’s administration and muddy the waters

One small thing you can do when responding to concerns like these from a friend or family member is be explicit with them that their information sources misled them intentionally—that they’re untrustworthy and their efforts to mislead people are contemptible.

Democrats are going to let Republicans put us away and camps, I mean psychiatric wards.

Again: Y'all have to know that that is the end game of all the "mentally ill" discourse.
NEW: When the 1st Trump admin proposed a rule allowing homeless shelters to turn trans people away, congressional Dems were furious

Now, it’s unclear how much Dems would push back if it happens again

It’s “a complicated issue,” one senior House Dem told me

Able-bodied by these politicians' definition also rings as including disabled/chronically ill people who don't qualify or haven't qualified yet for SSI/SSDI (a lot of people are rejected the first time they apply).
The policy menu Congress is considering to cut #Medicaid — per capita caps ($918 B over a decade), ending higher reimbursements for "able-bodied adults" ($690 B), lowering FMAP ($387 B); adding work requirements ($120 B), & other provisions ($200 B) are all straight out of #Project2025.
