BREAKING: The Florida Supreme Court upheld Florida’s law, making it the only state to allow juries split 8-4 to sentence people to death.

Permitting non-unanimous, divided juries to sentence people to death is unconstitutional and increases the risk of executing an innocent person.

And because my publisher has told me over and over again, "always be promoting," I cover this history of vaccine fear-mongering through cherry picked case series in my upcoming book, A Pox on Fools.

Pre-orders will help convince Random House to push what I believe is an important piece of work.

A question for discussion (and for Gen. Marks) — especially for vets:
If you were ordered to stop a ship in the Caribbean believed to be carrying drugs, board it and execute its crew — purely as a hypothetical raised by recent DoD interdiction videos — would you follow that order?

@repscottpeters.bsky.social seriously?!? You oppose socialism in all its forms (per the wording in the resolution)?

Universal healthcare & public education are off the table? What about rejecting authoritarianism - a key position of Democratic Socialism - is that off the table for you as well?
Trump is filling his government with Nazis, consolidating authoritarian power, and eroding democracy at every chance.

And yet these 86 House Democrats voted for a right-wing messaging amendment to say that the real authoritarians are the socialists.

Pathetic.

JFC. What are we doing?

Hey @repscottpeters.bsky.social, are you ready to impeach this criminal yet? Or are you still a NO?

It’s good news that the longest government shutdown will end. But I voted against the continuing resolution because it fails to address the healthcare crisis or reaffirm Congress’ sole authority over the power of the purse.

From street marches to court battles to the ballot box - we’ve challenged the power of this exceptionally unpopular president.

The lesson from each success we've had is that we need to ramp the political pressure up, always up, not back down, now more than ever.

The government has been shut down for 40 days—the longest in history. All Democrats have fought hard for extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits that make health care affordable for millions. I’m voting against the bill given it doesn’t extend these valuable tax credits.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you do not keep the government shut for more than a month and then NOT get a deal on the main item you have been messaging on without completely shifting the blame dynamic.
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
