Beautiful statement of why protesting matters, even if it feels like you aren't making much headway. You're not just speaking to power. You're speaking to others and making it possible for them to join in.
That’s exactly it. People tend to look around to gauge how they should react to an event, like how whenever a fire alarm goes off people look to see if it’s a drill. Protesting tells people “this is an emergency, and you’re not alone if you want to fight.”

Sometimes I falter to the gaslighting and am like “maybe we HAVE just been sold a bucket of hysterical bullshit” and then I see things like this AI photo and people saying “he’s not taking a dime” and all the praising comments then I’m like oh unfortunately the bucket is accurate
