Trump sent troops from the National Guard to Chicago days ago, and they have unleashed havoc on the city. Troops have thrown gas canisters at protesters, deployed tear gas on streets w/ no warning, and raided apartments in the middle of the night, zip-tying children & separating them from families.

As someone born and raised in California, and now a new Canadian citizen, I agree with Charlie Angus here. The governor of California should use his influence and time to try to protect the people of California from Trump policies, instead of begging for tourism dollars.
