BART transfers are dumb
- Why is Balboa Park, an outdoor and grimy station, the transfer for airport trains instead of Embarcadero?
- Why is Bayfair, an outdoor station, the B transfer instead of sheltered Lake Merritt.
- Why is 19th St the O/Y transfer instead of 12th screwing over 12st riders?

there is no way to put something on the internet without it being scraped
justdaniel.bsky.social
This is a thing I think most people really don't get. High-end scraping tools can login to all of the major social media and are scraping the fuck out of all of it. There are orgs building private equivalents of the Wayback Machine for purposes much less civic-minded.

We're already in a panopticon
eleanor.lockhart.contact
Absolutely nothing about this site’s architecture stops AI companies from scraping and training on it right now. The company everyone is freaking out about has clear license terms that say they aren’t doing that, but anything you post here is absolutely being used by someone for training

the 2nd Klan really is what these folks want -- this is the Klan that marched with their faces shown to the public, who were a fascist organization in all but name
wihorne.bsky.social
We really need to be thinking abt the current regime through the lens of the Second Klan, which helped to nationalize systems of Jim Crow state & vigilante violence & exploitation while creating an explicitly white nationalist immigration system. They even paraded down Pennsylvania Ave.

So-called #genAI means the abolition of the future through the proliferation of endless streams of stochastically rendered generic pasts. Having turned large parts of the cultural archive into training data, it now traps us in a foreverized pastness, a 24/7 nostalgia for a past that never existed

The order cites "recent escalation of violence by ICE" at the facility as reason to restrict protest there.

And San Altman’s buddies in this administration have been cutting all of our energy infrastructure upgrades

people do not want to believe that conservatives actually mean what they say
mikesenters.bsky.social
A lot of people on the liberal/leftist side of things underestimate this. They like to dismiss Republicans talking about dems and others being "satanists" and "in league with the devil" as red meat rhetoric to the base and it is that but it's also more. It's the Schmittian dichotomy distilled.
swordsjew.bsky.social
i do not respect this belief but it is enlightening to wrap your head around the fact that a significant number of your political rivals believe you are literally in league with satan, and act with concomitant zeal and brutality
