Gee, we’ll they said “no”, so…
Rep. Angie Craig: "We were told because this facility is being funding by the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' not the congressional appropriations act, that we would not be allowed to enter the facility. That's complete nonsense ... I informed them they were violating the law. They said they didn't care."

One of these days we’re going to have to stop using “Third world country” as an insult.

The “First world countries” have wrought imminently more violence on the world than the “Third world.” That violence coming home is just reaping what we sow.
Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura: “We’re a 3rd world country now. I know. I’ve been to ‘em. I spent 17 months in SE Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf… that’s what happens in a dictatorship. In comes the military. That’s what’s happening here”

Spotted an antifascist flag (feat. an Irish flag border & Starry Plough) at tonight’s anti-ICE demo in NYC. Spoke with its owner, who opted to remain anonymous.

Anon says we are witnessing “pure fucking fascism,” says people need to train & “don’t let them push us back.”

she’s lying, obviously. we can see the video with our own eyes. but it’s so interesting that they’re suddenly so willing to believe a car is a deadly weapon when they ignored the 100 documented instances of right wingers hitting protesters with their cars in 2020.
Noem: "People need to stop using their vehicles as weapons ... it's clear that it's being coordinated. People are being trained"

Hot take, given the full length videos sourced from Twitter in the mainstream reporting
It’s old-fashioned to defend mainstream journalism these days but some of the most reliable reporting from people actually on the ground will be the AP and Reuters the next 24 hours. Your Substack journalist writing takes will be using frontline reporting from them.

say what you will about Andrew Tate, but his decision to not have a chin likely saved his life in that fight. Just one of those uppercuts would've killed Bruce Campbell.

Love to see it, folks
to add to the Jake Paul schadenfreude, Andrew Tate also lost a fight to some reality TV influencer. most analysis of the fight I've read described his opponent as deeply untalented but Andrew lost anyway. Tate's endurance was awful and he was gassed after the first round.

I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

There is no ethical tech evangelism under capitalism.

Apropos of nothing, I guess.

This isn’t on some mythical horizon, I can order a Waymo right now and go anywhere I want in my city. I can order food and have it delivered by an autonomous vehicle. It’s not like this is rare either.

It’s kind of interesting that those most exploited would be most motivated to unionize their workplace 🤷
aly.codes aly @aly.codes · Dec 12
It is kind of interesting to me that the high profile unionization campaigns in the US over the last couple years all involve jobs that are likely to be completely automated in 5-10 years (rideshare, Amazon warehouse, food delivery, Starbucks, etc) instead of more stable knowledge fields.

It’s not just local news that matters, but news that is not afraid of being combative against framing/narratives that stoke division and harm and confusion and fear.

It is not enough for news to be local. It needs to have integrity.

The medium is dying because it does not capture people’s hearts.

Hello! Annoying news! I’ve been informed by work that due to an investor delay I am not going to be paid on time. I need to pay my rent and internet/phone and eat, so if you can give me a hand, I can pay you back in the next few weeks when my pay shows up. Thanks!
