Knitter, crafter, homeschooling parent, do-gooder in progress, still masking.
NYT Cooking is having a sale. Normally $50/year. They say it’s 75% off but the charge is $18 for the year. 75% off $50 is $12.50. Math. NYT. Evidently you’re also not good at that.

The River Boston is playing Dr John Silent Night. It’s making me happy. Merry Christmas or Happy Thursday to all.

Asked the dogs, 1 gnawing a bone wrapped in the bedding sheet from the crate & stopped when the bone was unwrapped, if they would be good while I went into the basement to get beef. And realized that meant I would also flip the laundry. Asked if I could do both. They looked back dubiously.

If you stopped wearing masks, you can start again anytime! At *least* while you’re traveling! Don’t ruin your holidays with covid or flu.
it’s an amazing time to wear a well-fitted face mask, preferably an N95

I have heard the River a billion times (including the Robert Downey Jr cover) this season. I have not heard Fairytale of New York once. Wtf?

Can we at least all agree on one thing? Everything that's been made of Epstein & people he's associated with has been about everything but justice & healing for the survivors.

Thanks to @hrishikesh.co I now know Ah-Ha was Norwegian. Home Cooking is my favorite BUT Song Exploder is a really good podcast. Especially if you like music. Who doesn’t like music?!?!

Instead of spending money, I just mended the crib sheet I use on the couch bc dogs. That thing is made of the same stuff as lightening cables. (Aka hopes and dreams and not much else.) the mended spots seem to be holding up. (From an ikea duvet that also got a hole. )

@swistle.bsky.social out of print. Bogo shirts. Very library appropriate. If that’s something you’re looking for. Maybe a gift swap or to wear to work.

Every Democrat in Congress should put out a video saying troops have an obligation to refuse unlawful orders. Make them prosecute all of you. This isn't a close call.

I'd add Republicans too if I thought any of them had the courage to actually cross Trump on this.
Hegseth is now threatening to recall Sen. Mark Kelly to active duty in order to court martial him.

One would think my dog would get tired of barking at the neighbors. Alas, she does not.

Put the dishwasher on for a 1-hour wash and the timer read 2-hours? And the normal wash is 2:05? What is the point?

It was to clean some pyrex that had been used to let dough rise in the fridge. It was just olive oil in there. I didn’t want to hand wash bc getting oil out sucks.

Democrats just swept the off-year elections -- and not just in blue states -- a resounding rejection of Republicans' authoritarian bullshit. It is an insult to Democratic voters, marketplace enrollees, and everyone who turned out on Tuesday for Schumer and Jeffries to cave.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

When you move 8 US Navy warships into the Caribbean to distract from releasing the Epstein files and then have to move them again out of the path of a massive hurricane what’s the fuel cost to US taxpayers? Are Trump’s billionaire Pedo pals covering that too or is it on us?

As we discussed
the efficacy of marches
the old punk told me
not to overlook
the importance
of setting an example:
by standing up,
by speaking out,
you are showing others
that they can do the same,
which, the old punk added,
is also a good reason
to keep wearing a mask.
