“Nothing is so unworthy of a civilized nation as allowing itself to be ‘governed’ by an irresponsible clique that has yielded to base instinct.”
The opening words of the first "White Rose" leaflet.
The inhumanity of the academic job search was completely squelched by my sheer joy at landing MLA interviews. And then Campus interviews. Will never forget the one prof comparing me to the less desirable dessert: he literally said "sometimes you just want the cheesecake" (and not the derby pie=me).

Calling all archaeologists who can help with this project by skyping into a classroom!
You're never gonna believe this, but we're out of archaeologists again.

We have matched ~650 groups with archaeologists this semester! I am so grateful to the 196 Archaeologist volunteers!

We have 60 unmatched groups rn

Know archaeologists who could do a session? Send them to SkypeAScientist.com

davekarpf.substack.com/p/every-gene... This by @davekarpf.bsky.social is very, _very_ good. Much traditional media is badly geared to understand movement politics, and often, it helps to actually know stuff!

Mr T. is going to have his right leg amputated tomorrow. It’s been bothering him for a while and it’s either a malignant tumor or a serious form of arthritis. I’ll be calmer once I know he’s made it through. 😳

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

I've started listening to #Hadyn 's symphonies in order and ranking them. I love them! So far I think 1 and 4 are my favorites, but they're all fantastic. Let me know if you have any favorites! (performances too). #Classicalmusicsky #Hadyn

NYC election coverage on German radio is a reminder that there’s a well-established German word for nearly every point of Mamdani’s socio-econ agenda, coming from the extremely centrist and non-radical social-democrat vocabulary. The US is too brain-washed by the Cold War and racism to even see
