This morning it was all hands on deck for last minute shopping, present wrapping, and preparing veg and now it's 3pm and my mum is watching Sister Act and I'm debating if it's late enough in the day to crack open the Baileys #MerryChristmas

I was taught that a Chekhov's Gun is something that's mentioned at the start of a story to foreshadow something happening later on.

But in 'Santa Baby', they mention a Chekov My Christmas List, and then it doesn't get mentioned again? Is Eartha Kitt just bad at storytelling?

I fell out of my wheelchair yesterday while leaving a shop with too steep a ramp. I'm fine, I don't need and/or want sympathy for that it was actually slightly funny.

What I would like sympathy for is this: there's not even the fucking whisper of a bruise from where I fell! How is that fair?

There’s an old Kenyan proverb, often used when someone is being loudly ignorant, that goes something like this… “Unlike the stomach, the brain does not alert you when empty.”

Delivery drivers read the number in giant metal figures on my front door and back gate, challenge level: ... Well, it doesn't matter what number I put here they'll still leave it in next door's garden!

Have just been reminded that my friend Christina once overheard the following in Waitrose: it’s perfect.

Jeez. All tourists - including those from Britain - will have to undergo a social media screening before being allowed entry into the US under new plans being considered by the country's border force

US plans to start checking all tourists' social media
The potential social media mandate being proposed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) would apply to anyone visiting, whether they require a visa or not.

I'm sorry but people actually think coming up with a prompt demonstrates the same amount of skill as being able to draw, paint, compose or write a book? Is it crack??

The place AI (or rather, Machine Learning) is useful is in STEM stuff. Analysing datasets, finding patterns, picking out directions not yet spotted. Key here is that the output is validated and checked, not just accepted unquestioningly, like generative AI.

How does this fit with their understanding of "biological sex"? Are trans men allowed the full-size portions? Does the waiter decide, or are we going to be getting tested at the entrance to save time?

Normal people: have a dream, struggle to remember it, are boring when telling the story of it
Me: dream up a video game, run it by my brother who is a gamer, spend an hour writing out the basic outline to possibly run by friends next time I see them

My most-used words in 2025 were:

1. "fucking" (16×)
2. "book" (13×)
3. "keep" (11×)
4. "says" (9×)
5. "wrong" (9×)

That feels about right
