I'm not sure where this trump-Musk feud is going to lead. I'm waiting for Chris Cillizza to weigh in before I make up my mind.

So what are the odds that trump and Elon will have a falling out, trump will kick him out of his quasi-government role, the rightwing obeisance machine will turn on him -- and then people across the political spectrum will hate him?

He'll still have tech bros and crypto bros, but it's a good start!

I predict that if inflation doesn't come down voluntarily, it will be detained *and* locked out of the White House briefing room.

Rep Zephyr’s speech flips 13 GOPs, trans bills die in Montana

Trans people have been scapegoated so effectively (among older people) that we're flooded with models of how to hate.

But when people hear the love behind why we stand up for each other, we win.

Bravo, @zoandbehold.bsky.social!

Seems like the fastest way to get Elon kicked wayyy out of any position of authority in this government is to call him President Musk a lot.

Spend less than you earn -- however little you earn -- and save it. Start now. Build an emergency fund and save for retirement.

(And spare me the hard luck stories. I paid off my student loans at 49, clean my own house, and have never used DoorDash.)
people over 30 quote this with some life advice for the rest of us?

I spoke with my bank today about some recent fraudulent purchases on my credit card. As part of the process, they asked if I suspected anyone specific, and I said, "Donald Trump."

The service rep thought that sounded about right.

This is juvenile clickbait from the Gray Lady. Serious question: Who is the last president of the US who did *not* matter -- for good or ill? I'm guessing it's William Henry Harrison.

Just in case you thought a biopic about Bob Dylan would be all woke in its treatment of women of color
This piece about Toshi Seeger in the new Bob Dylan movie is a hilarious explainer of the very Hollywood problem: “there’s a woman in this story that we can’t get rid of because she kind of ran everything so what can we possibly do?”

CORMAC McCARTHY: War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.
JOE ROGAN: Yeah, right. I've heard that.
MILTON: The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.. What hath night to do with sleep? Better to reign in Hell, than to serve in Heaven.
JOE ROGAN: Yeah. Right. Yeah. I heard that
MELVILLE: But as in landlessness alone resides highest truth, shoreless, indefinite as God—so, better is it to perish in that howling infinite, than be ingloriously dashed upon the lee, even if that were safety!

JOE ROGAN: wow. I've heard that

What's the actual threat here? Not conviction, I don't think. Discovery and testimony would be nightmares for trump.

The bigger threats are likely to be financial hardship via the need for legal representation and character assassination -- which could also hurt prospects for gainful employment.

One thing about me is I will smile and nod when you talk about the Patriots' chances this weekend.
One thing about me is I will listen politely to you talk about astrology, which happens a lot more than I'd like, and both not retain anything you've said, and also think it's all made up nonsense.
One thing about me is that I do absolutely suck at listening to stories about weird, apparently paranormal things that happened to you.

100% intolerable “that was definitely a drone” and “you can stop worrying about your past lives because they don’t exist” shit.

To go from Bob Menendez to Andy Kim is one of the single greatest leaps in legislator quality in American history. From a comically corrupt, gold-bar-hiding grifter to a guy who is so decent that he got down on his knees to help clean the Capitol Rotunda after January 6th.
It’s official…

Adam Schiff and Andy Kim are now U.S. Senators after being sworn in moments ago.

Since both of them are filling vacancies, Schiff and Kim were appointed by their respective governors to serve out the rest of the terms of Dianne Feinstein and Bob Menendez.
