Chicago invested $3M+ in Divvy this year, incl a $550K operating subsidy. That delivered:
• 9,200+ annual price freezes ($143 vs. $159)
• 5,500+ discounted $99 memberships
• 48,000+ capped e-bike rides (free minutes 31–45)
• 35,500+ free unlocks in Equity Priority Areas

New from me! Chicago has far too many bus stops to provide efficient service for its riders—nearly twice the national standard. I reimagined what Chicago's bus network could do to make it look like its peers.

Lifted truck with virtually no sight line to the ground in front of them = a perfectly safe vehicle suited for busy city driving
I really don’t understand how doing this isn’t a one-way ticket to jail. Driving is just about the only activity where you can mangle another person’s body without any real consequence as long as you remember to say “oopsies” afterwards.

When people have viable alternatives to driving, they will do so. Decreasing traffic by increasing transit/ bike share isn't necessarily intuitive, but it works

Very disappointed to see this community input limited to aesthetic design. This corridor needs real infrastructure improvements for transportation efficiency and safety, like bus lanes and shorter crosswalks. All else is secondary

I think the distinction is important: we nerds are not against investing $444 million in station upgrades, we are against investing $444 million in station upgrades but only getting a single station upgraded
If you unveil a new train station and every transit nerd on this website lines up to call you an idiot, they are right.

Yes, we need Metra to serve as regional rail, not just commuter oriented. People need to be able to use a service reliably, and conveniently, for their trips
A not so radical thought:

If all Metra train stops operated 7 days a week with weekend schedules that ensured someone who took the next to last train one way had 4 hours until the last one back, it would alter the culture of the region.

Yes it really is the best way to get around and avoid dangerous driving. If only we plowed the sidewalks too!
Transit should be at forefront of any climate resiliency plan. Take snow. A bus is heavy and piloted by a trained driver; much safer in snow (or heavy rainfall) than the relatively light vehicles driven by civilians. Bus riders take vehicles off the streets, which speeds plowing, emergency response.

This is the future Mayor Johnson and City Council are keeping from you. #PlowTheSidewalks
I know that many other cities don’t plow their sidewalks, leaving it up to property owners. This is completely crazy to me.

Our sidewalk plows look like this and they do a pretty good job.

We should be doing everything in our power to make our roads safer, for road users and pedestrians alike. It destroys families, and reducing the speed limit with better enforcement is a great start
