I'm calling bullshit on the media narrative that Trump is "pivoting" and "deescalating" on his ICE raids. The threshold is this: As long as the military occupations and the treatment of US cities as enemy territory continue, there's no pivot. ICE out. 1/

Donald Trump Is Frightened
Trump wants to appear eager to minimize out-of-control clashes between government militias and protesters. But he doesn’t want to stop the things causing those clashes in the first place.

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

before you take any of the "Trump is pivoting/lamenting/lowering the temperature after the Pretti murder" stories too seriously, absolutely nothing has changed in Minneapolis: "an absolutely brutal day of raids and abductions" says one friend

I’m honestly baffled by all the credulous reporting that Trump was upset about Noem, Miller, and Bovino’s posts and comments about the the Pretti killing. I mean, his own post after the murder was insane.

Come together for what? Progress towards what? I’m genuinely asking. The federal government is murdering Minnesotans and disappearing our neighbors. So if any of these CEO’s want to explain to me personally what I — as a state leader — should ask the federal government for, I’m available.
A letter released Sunday by the leaders of more than 60 Minnesota companies — including the CEOs of Target, General Mills, UnitedHealth Group and 3M — called for local and federal leaders to “come together to foster progress.”
Live: Minnesota's high-profile CEOs break silence, call for ‘immediate deescalation’
The letter marks a notable shift from Minnesota’s top employers, who had previously remained quiet about the surge of immigration officials in the state and the killing of Renee Good.

I'm seeing NYT ads hawking gawdy "We The People" merch (my favorite is a hand fondling a bottle of something lying in a manger, apparently; could be whiskey, could be maple syrup). The cringiest ad campaign I've ever seen.

Know what gives?

Cripes a’mighty people, Steven Miller is not staging a militarized ethnic cleansing and sending the border cops to murder people in the street to distract from the Epstein files. He’s doing it because he and Trump (and Vance and Homan and Noem etc) really really want to.

BREAKING: After months of stonewalling by Starbucks, unionized baristas just voted 92% to authorize a ULP strike unless Starbucks finalizes fair contracts & stops union busting.

If forced, our baristas will strike in dozens of cities on November 13 – the company's busiest sales day of the year.

Union members say they are ready to strike on the chain's Red Cup Day if Starbucks doesn't finalize a contract with their union by then.

Lousy picture of the crowd in Boulder CO yesterday. In a small park spilling over along the streets, no way for me to estimate the size. One frog. Lots of dogs.

I ran into my congressman @neguse.house.gov on Pearl St. in Boulder today, behind a card table collecting email addresses and chatting. No microphone, no podium, no minders, no cameras; a rep. mingling with constituents. Introduced himself as Joe. Impressed the hell out of me.

Besides the Epstein diversion, the deployment of troops to DC is to create two chilling possibilities. One, to invoke the insurrection act and put down any demonstrations as the country goes south. Two, to suspend elections and declare martial law if the country turns against him.
