I fully support this statement released by the Palestine Action Group, in response to the murder of innocent Jewish people celebrating Hanukkah at Bondi Beach on Sunday. I am also deeply disturbed by the comments made by the Antisemitism Envoy Jillian Segal. #auspol #BondiBeachShooting

Jillian Segal is pathetic, trying to link this evil act to those protesting the Genocide in Gaza. How Albo thought she was an appropriate choice as the envoy to combat #antisemitism is beyond reason. No doubt she will use this appalling act to try curbing free speech and criticism of Israel. #Bondi

The Hero of Bondi Beach, Ahmed al Ahmed, is a Syrian immigrant and proud Australian citizen.

Immigrants aren't the problem in Oz, and they're not the problem in the US.
This is a brave man. A true hero. 💙

Hero handled that situation the absolute best possible way

Absolutely no American NRA Republican bs can grab a talking point from that.
An unarmed man disarmed a shooter. And then did not shoot him. And laid down the weapon for the authorities.
Absolute gold standard of Australian heroics

“tobacco industry tactics” #fossilfuel #gasexpansion #Australia
Mike Rann, former Premier of South Australia nails it

The fossil fuel sector is using “tobacco industry tactics” to maintain a bipartisan commitment to supporting gas expansion

“gas has become the lifeline that vaping was for the tobacco industry"

So instead of requiring gas exporters to supply gas to Australian manufacturers at reasonable prices, the cost would be transferred to taxpayers.

Let’s gas cartel keep price gouging Australians, and taxpayers foot the bill.

Really!?!

A horror night for Australia. But the acts of Australians from all walks of life to protect and help shows this nation is much stronger than those who seek to divide us.

EVs beat petrol cars on lifetime emissions — even on “dirty” grids.
Battery production is carbon-intensive, but EVs quickly repay that debt and end up 21–71% cleaner over 250,000 km.

We can’t wait for perfect grids: electrify transport and clean the grid now.

I see this trend in so many system models, plans and policies around the world: oh, wind isn't doing all that well, so let's just lean on more solar and batteries.

You end up with a way less optimised system and a lot of greenhouse gas emissions that could be avoided w/ more support for wind power

When is 90% not 90%?

The EU's 2040 climate target has so many loopholes, it will lead to much lower cuts to pollution than the headline suggests

Going against its own science advisers, the EU will allow dodgy accounting and offshore carbon laundering to make up the numbers – hugely irresponsible

The hydrogen bubble has burst.

Nearly 60 major low-carbon H₂ projects have been cancelled or paused — far more capacity than the world has actually built. The reason? Fundamentals still don’t add up:

• Demand isn’t there
• Costs remain high
• Infrastructure is missing
