I know its all just marketing but as a scientist I've tried to use LLMs for 'deep research' and they just make up citations and misstate what sources say, meaning they fail at the most basic task of research. Everybody sees that they get the overall shape about right and assume that equals research

Finally an answer to that 'my least woke opinion' thing that was going around. It should be illegal to have fonts that make different characters look identical.

I'm sorry you are correct and I am an AI assistant. The amount of coke-- jargon for the tropane alkaloid cocaine-- you have just taken before your public appearance is not excessive and will make you look very normal and smart.

I teach a normal population of college students. Extra time doesn't help you if you didn't study. Recording lectures doesn't help if you don't watch them. Accommodations do not turn college into easy mode and students succeed and fail without them just as students succeed and fail with them.
I think filling the top ranks of our education system with people who got there in part by abusing a system designed to help disabled people will select morally deficient people for leadership positions in our society and is worth taking steps to avoid bsky.app/profile/padr...
I mean if the only risk is some kids getting extra time on tests it seems like not such a big deal

the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them

All of bluesky are but plain, simple tailors
It’d be exciting to think that Bluesky has people pretending to be American like Twitter but I honestly don’t think they could talk about Star Trek Deep Space 9 the way it’s expected here without having watched all the episodes a dozen times

Public libraries are fucking awesome, and something we should all be proud this country actually decided to do. With so much terrible history, this is an unmitigated good, and librarians are a pretty amazing example of what public service can be. Give them love.
Some people don't know this so it's worth saying out loud that Public libraries are free to use. And even if you have never used a library, the librarians at your local library will be very happy to see you and help you get started.

ILL is also critical for researchers to get papers not at their institution. Harvard is probably the only place I didn't need to ILL things
I used to handle interlibrary loans for a public library. ILL is a magnificent expression of the idea that readers deserve books, and books deserve readers. It’s libraries everywhere pooling their resources for the benefit of everyone.

Killing IMLS could have killed ILL.

This is great news. 📚
