'Banter doesn't exist if you're not friends with that person.'

Stefan Benarroch explains his interactions with Nigel Farage at school, and what he has made of the Reform leader’s response to the allegations.

100%this. Farage has not acknowledged, apologised or attempted to make amends he is not a ‘reformed’ character and our politicians should be so much more than a ‘character from REFORM
All the supposedly progressive people saying 'Nigel Farage's racism doesn't matter. His fans love it'.

It matters whether the leader of the party leading all the opinion polls is an outright racist. It matters if he called black people 'wogs' and said 'gas them' to Jews. Not everything is a game

Let's be generous and allow Prince Andrew to keep a rent-free bedroom at the Royal Lodge. But the other 29 bedrooms would be perfect for asylum seekers.

Can someone ask Farage or Zia Yusuf why, if they're so concerned about incitement to violence, they had Lucy Connolly as a guest star at their conference?

Approximately 500,000 people across England and wales will be feeling a curious mixture of anxiety and grumpiness with a tinge of excitement. Everyone of them a teacher returning to work after the summer tomorrow…

@matthewpatrick.bsky.social this is partly what I was trying to say the other day , @missmc.bsky.social says it so much better than me
Honestly I should pay David Blunkett royalties for the amount I mention this trick. But it’s so important in politics. People aren’t impressed by big numbers. They’re impressed by knowing their life will change.
To put it another way, David Blunkett once taught me a trick. In education it’s no use announcing 500 schools. Because no one will know if the policy is for them. Instead, you should say ‘Every town will get a new school’ OR ‘it will be easier to get your child into a school nearby’.

OK so feeling slightly apprehensive about this, which I suppose is kind of the point. This is an attempt at a progressive view on masculinity and on men getting laid. God help me. iandunt.substack.com/p/how-to-be-...
How to be a man
The right story narrative about male attractiveness is grounded in Social Darwinism and free market economics. Can progressives tell a better story?

I'm trying to think of the last time a politician made me belly laugh and I'm honestly not sure it ever happened. He's magnificent.
Good morning! I'm in Uganda to visit family and friends.

But depending on your perspective, don't worry or I'm sorry: I'll be back by the end of the month.

See you soon, NYC.

It may indeed be true that Trump has some form of dementia. But before spreading this on social media in a way that slurs people with cognitive decline, can we please remember that he's always been an awful person and that many people who have dementia were and continue to be kind and decent people.

@samfr.bsky.social why are you not running a conclave commentary? BBC should have the test match special team outside St Peter’s whilst you do the online stats
May 8, 2025 at 3:19 PM
They should have got Henry Blofeld to commentate on the conclave. They’re just filling in time talking about seagulls
