Yes! This!
The right, along the Roberts Court, is trying to nullify the Reconstruction amendments guaranteeing equality under the law, in order to restore the Antebellum Constitution, which envisions “liberty” as an eternal aristocracy of race and class (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Heads up that this is authorization for Trump to create his own version of the Wagner Group. Which would bring the number of “armies” at his disposal to four:

*regular armed forces (most regulated)
*ICE (minimally regulated)
*private mercenaries (?)
*MAGA thugs/militias (rogue)

All pardonable

I used to be a professor, so I know many #academic folk spend their after-Christmas already planning spring courses. I wrote a book that talks about rise of #fascism from the roots, #LGBTQ and #science history. It’s accessible. It has back matter for students. And I have teaching materials.
Are you a professor planning to incorporate THE INTERMEDIARIES (medical #history, Weimar, #Jewish history, #transgender history, #LGBTQ fighting Nazis) into your course? I have pdf to share, additional teaching materials, images, and resources for use. Please ping me.

Now he is worried about being arrested and deported for the crime of monitoring online hate.

I do not love that six years into a global pandemic the general widely held consensus is that if you don’t want to consent to getting exposed endlessly your only choice is to basically be a solitary weirdo loving in isolation from even your family.

This quote from John Ioannidis is pretty incredible.

He is implying that Jay Bhattacharya is an apolitical actor here and that it is we, his critics, who are running the risk of making science political.

In his fantasy, these headlines are required now, to save science.

We need to STFU.

A small (personal) example of this book’s intellectual dishonesty:

My father-in-law is reading In Covid’s Wake, and excitedly told me he found a passage where I’m quoted. The quote in question is me saying the FBI worked to censor speech on social media.

Huh? When did I say that?!
