Thank you Tom for this most excellent treatise. I agree with everything even tho I'm on the fence about the school referendum. This is the 2nd election cycle in a row with a big tax increase and it's starting to feel unsustainable. The state needs to fix its school funding formulas.

This. I've learned to play TF2, MTG, and Fortnite. I've watched hours and hours of Tik Toks & weird anime. Found new music, went to shows with my kids.

I didn't like all of it (Roblox is weird AF), but I like a lot of it and I'm honored to be included in my kids' digital & cultural lives.

My best advice for parents re: harmful content: show genuine interest in the stuff your kid is watching and doing online.

Let them talk your ear off about Minecraft and Roblox and the funny video they just watched. Make them feel excited to share with you, vs making them feel ashamed or judged

Remember when Linden Hills NIMBYs were aflame against this mid-rise? I don’t think anyone but the crabbiest patties bat an eye now, and the public pocket patio is well-used and lovely. Just a reminder that urban conservatives are ridiculous.
