I worked with him at my last firm but never got around to asking. For what it's worth, my experience was that he's an incredibly nice guy, a sharp lawyer, and a fair thinker.

I was mostly not concerned with the maniac candidate from Ward 12 losing by North Korea numbers — until she dragged Taylor and I into campaign finance court. But it's been a fun ride.

A big fucking fumble here: court of appeals reverses a conviction for possession of 194 grams of Fentanyl because the officer impermissibly expanded the scope of the stop.

Didn't know going in there was going to be a cancer mom subplot. I might have been scared off, because my wife got through a diagnosis and two surgeries last year. But it completely disassembled me and put me back together. A beautiful story. Never squeezed my kid harder than that night.

How many city candidates does it take to build a public bench? DeWayne Davis (for mayor), Michael Wilson and Tom Olsen (both for parks) are showing voters they've mastered the arts of power tools and woodworking.

shelley madore admits to the strib to renting a ward 2 apartment in january just to run for office

alternate headline: strib finally covers residency issues in ward 2, doesn’t mention john wall faking his address to influence the convention

www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...
Madore moved to Minneapolis in 2018, buying a north Minneapolis duplex in Ward 5. She began renting an apartment in Prospect Park in January, she said in an interview, a move she acknowledged was to make her eligible to run in the ward. Candidates must live in their district for at least 30 days prior to the general election under state and city of Minneapolis rules.

Kinda telling that Kupchella wouldn’t tell Star Tribune journalists who funded his landlord ad & the Strib still called it “journalism.” Meanwhile they haven’t really covered one of the biggest Minneapolis political stories: landlords dumping big $$ into the race. www.startribune.com/kare-veteran...
KARE veteran Rick Kupchella returns to reporting for film on Minneapolis
“A Precarious State” premieres Thursday night on KSTP and other ABC affiliates.

Davis Moturi email to city council, read aloud by CM Wonsley Wednesday. Sees similarity between his case & Mariah Samuels: "A black person in fear for their lives, and a department who can't be bothered to forward a case for consideration of charges in our time of greatest need."
Hi Council Members,
My name is Davis Moturi. In October 2024, I was shot in the neck by my neighbor John Sawchak after dozens of attempts to get help from MPD the year prior.
I'm writing to you today to ask that the City of Minneapolis make public, the results of MPD's review of the Department's handling of my case and any changes they have made to their
procedures based on the results of their review.
In an MPR article by Cari Spencer in April a spokesperson from MPD revealed that "MPD has conducted a thorough review of the violent incident." They also shared that the Department is "committed to implementing necessary changes, procedures and partnerships to address any identified gaps when these reviews are concluded."
If they have made changes based on the results of their internal review, the public should know
If they have made changes based on the results of their internal review, the public should know what changes they've made and what specifically from their handling of the case led them to make those changes. If they are not making any changes based on their review, the public should know why they won't begin that process if, by their own admission, there are "necessary changes" that need to be implemented. I recently learned of the murder of Mariah Samuels, and noticed that both of our cases are eerily similar. A black person in fear for their lives, and a
department who can't be bothered to forward a case for consideration of charges in our time of greatest need. The community and I deserve answers- and accountability.
I look forward to your response.
