So much of public discourse around religion has been shaped by the legacy of new atheism, which spent all its time calling the beliefs themselves stupid and evil, while failing to attend to the wider political context in which both secular and religious beliefs operate.
I can't figure out how to express my views on ppl bashing religion correctly and apologies for me rehashing them regularly.
My main view is that ppl are often caught up in a debate over whether particular gods are real (or where faith is stupid) rather than how to respond to the fact that...

Actually, it IS pretty pressing.
It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.
