I think one thing tech world people--who seem constantly confused why so many people hate them--haven't registered is how for most people the last few waves of hyped tech products (NFTs, crypto, LLMs, etc.) have just led to a lot of scams, spams, and grifts. They've just made life more annoying.
The main effect of AI on my life has been getting a shitload more book scam emails evading the spam filter. Every day I get some email from like "Borfin Squimble" at "Enjoyable Books Readers Reading Club" wanting me to pay money to be "the featured novel in a club of readers who enjoy reading"

I will NEVER vote for a politician who votes for anti-trans legislation. Never. I don't care who it is, it's a dead issue. Move on. If my vote is so important to the future of democracy they should have thought of that before they voted to exterminate my child.

In the way Studio Ghibli tears are shown as how crying *feels* rather than how it appears, Lynch had feeling lead in his storytelling to the point of superceding the established reality and logic of the art. Not solely dream oddity but dream-emotion elasticity.

Uncle Junior really is one of the great TV performances of all time. He doesn't burn like Gandolfini does onscreen, but he's such a fascinating character, so much texture and complexity. An insecure, oddly charming, viciously jealous man who really would be happier just gardening and yakking.
Dominic Chianese, aged 94, is doing a one-night solo show at Town Hall in June. Telling stories, reciting, singing. Good for him. In the theatre all his life, working in nursing homes when he rests, setting up that charity.. he deserves a victory lap. A prince of a man.
