The series description is: Deep space cyberpunk thriller novelettes with beautiful adaptations of famous monsters in a bleak, caste ruled setting. We follow the skeleton crew of the lab ship, Magpie, as they hit hard times and brush with corporate oligarchies' law enforcement. They take odd jobs and survive gruesome encounters, but they do it together! --- Sigils Sigils of Malice's cover has a magical blue beetle walking on a machine powered by a sparking crystal. Sigils of Blight's cover is of a lantern with a blue fire in the jungle. The series description is: Science fantasy thriller novels within a gilded theocrasy, wearing 1910's pseudo-cyberpunk glitz. "Those are words." - My Husband Thalia Clayton, an uncouth crossdressing showgirl, without magic, tries to protect her family from powers above her head. Unfortunately, everyone she loves is mixed in with conspiracies. After many reluctant partnerships and tested loyalties, it's a good thing she knows many necromancers and priests. Getting out alive may not be an option.

I’ve been doing a lot of Very Serious Reading lately for my studies and wanted a break with Fun Reading. Fiance gifted it for xmas (along with a copy of Seabiscuit) and I’m 50 pages in under an hour. Very interesting premise and mix of storylines so far!

- energy prices
- literal psychosis

I am partaking so mind the rambling but

I think children’s lit education would be so much more fun if they got to engage with it beyond a simple essay or quiz.

Currently in MA courses with intention to teach adults so it got me thinking about what I would do to make it more engaging
