I think one thing chatGPT's invention has revealed is how many people - including some very important people in society - find just basic reading and writing to be laborious and cumbersome to perform, and how oddly closely that type of strained literacy correlates with having other shitty opinions.

I'd estimate that 40% of banks offer completely free accounts with no strings (and like 90% of credit unions.) Anyone who keeps all their money in crypto is a megadunce who is already primed to be a republican due to how dumb they are
Young men don't open bank accounts. They are too expensive. They download coin base or Robinhood app and buy crypto. That's their savings

If one party pushes that number higher. They vote for em. Gensler/Biden caused those savings to go down. The demo with the biggest change was young men
This is legit the dumbest thing I've ever seen him say

this video is so good and the best part is that these three high-end ramen chefs can recognize so many of the brands blind and genuinely like many of them

"Beyond delivering clear, confident explanations of which noodles are good or bad, and why, the chefs offer the cultural, chemical, and structural accounts of why the various noodles are the way they are."

Everyone can and should learn how to cook. Cooking, meal planning, and grocery shopping are all basic life skills that anyone can learn to do. If you don’t know how to teach yourself a new skill, that is the ur-problem of your life and you need to solve that immediately or your soul will rot
as someone on the zoomer/millennial boundary i feel there's a legit problem with people not knowing how to purchase groceries

Quote from Minju party leader Park Chan-dae’s speech today, which referenced Han Kang’s Nobel Prize win:

“She asked, “Can the past help the present? Can the dead save the living?”

Experiencing the insurrection, I want to say “yes.” Because Gwangju 1980 protected us in December 2024.”

From the 2016–7 impeachment protest in Gwanghwamun.

Musical actors at the protest site sang "Do You Hear the People Sing / One Day More". At the key change, they hold the note and all point toward the Blue House where soon-to-be-impeached Park Geun-hye cowered.

Still sends chills down my spine.

My analogy is:

Windows: You're in a cage in the Serengeti. You're safe as long as you stay in the cage.

Apple: You're in a cage with comfy chairs, an excellent kitchen, and fabulous window treatments.

Linux: You're in one-room shack in Mesopotamia. Go ahead and start building civilization.

I think a lot about how Cora Harrington said that so much consumption is just based on the rest of us cosplaying as rich, and when you accept that nothing you buy will ever give you "quiet luxury" vibes or whatever it is freeing to buy what you like and to buy less.
