I think Dealbook does a disservice to its readers by calling CMBS "exotic financial instruments" and not contextualizing the relative size of any of the markets involved here.
This is insane. This is *literally* doing the same mechanics of the housing crisis and 2008 recession but to create debt to finance construction of AI data centers

I don't expect that Thomas will join Gorsuch in federal Indian law cases as a general matter. I do think that what he says here is entirely incompatible with other things that he has said, and that if he took it seriously across the board, he'd do precisely that.

What's remarkable about it is that it unambiguously and repeatedly describes Tribes as sovereign nations with sovereign powers, something that Thomas has raised unwarranted questions about. This is the very first paragraph after the opening!

Justices Gorsuch and Thomas, who never agree on anything concerning federal Indian law, agree that the federal government doesn't have plenary power over Native nations. This is a remarkable joint statement that should lead Justice Thomas to revisit a hell of a lot of things he has previously said

An important question you cannot skip over in pursuit of the Primary Them All solution is: how likely is it that defeating entitled narcissists in a primary will actually stop them from running?

the Rosetta Stone of dem politics is the 2006 senate primary which incumbent Joe Lieberman lost in part for making out with George Bush

He ran anyway, won with GOP support, dems let him keep his seniority, chairmanships and perks & he rewarded them by obstructing the ACA & killing the public option

New: Zohran Mamdani's expected to later this morning announce he plans to appoint Dean Fuleihan as his first deputy mayor, per sources.

Fuleihan served in the same role under Bill de Blasio.
