A characteristic conservative/liberal division is that conservatives believe in a top-down worldview, not just hierarchies of people & the world (man/woman, white/black, human/nature, etc) but also of knowledge: first principles/inconvenient facts.
Here: digital superiority vs safety facts
Nice of fElon to prefers his swasticars are unnecessarily built as death traps — with doors that are electrically controlled, rather than mechanically.

Perhaps he considers the # of deaths (15 so far) are "the cost of doing business."

It's funny: when the Trump administration gets truly desperate, when they are flailing to meet their promises to lower prices, they just announce a bunch of old Lina Khan initiatives.
The keyword there is "announce." They're parroting economic justice concepts without the follow-through.
From me:
When in Doubt, Pretend to Be Lina Khan - The American Prospect
The Trump administration’s plans to lower prices are just Biden-era retreads. Unfortunately, they’re just plans, with no expected follow-through.

worth noting that the legit NYT reporters who come on here just to post their articles get a good bit of pickup
Overall, this big @nytimes.com investigation identified $500m+ that was donated to Trump-backed groups AFTER the election from 346 donors.

It found that more than half of the donors have benefited in some way from actions by Trump or his administration. (gift link)

One factor on this they need to consider is that the resolution itself should either name the impeachment managers or else provide some acceptable mechanism for appointing them. An impeachment with no managers is, procedurally, kind of like if a tree falls in the forest but nobody hears it.

Everyone resigned to Paramount taking control of Warner Bros. Discovery and therefore CNN should be contacting their state attorney general to tell them to right now give their intentions to block any illegal merger that consolidates entertainment studios and reduces competition.
For those of us warning about democracy's potential disintegration, the decision by CBS to pull an exhaustively researched 60 Minutes piece, critical of Trump, is another red alert moment.

When truth disappears as the media gets coopted by the regime, there's little left.

The Financial Stability Oversight Council was created after the 2008 financial crisis to prevent future crises by spotting and addressing emerging risks.

The Trump administration is ignoring that history and turning the FSOC’s mission on its head, making it into a tool for deregulation.

the easy messaging against the data centers imo is "they are investing your pensions in building a big gaming computer that has to have all its parts replaced every five years forever. is that what you want your pension to own shares in? the shares they pay you with?
These ridiculous mega-projects like "datacenters in space" (doomed by thermodynamics) make a LOT more sense when you realize they're massive Ponzi schemes designed to transfer wealth from pension funds to VC's through "fee stacking."

It's the old Assets Under Management con. It should be illegal.
“.. Skeptics believe the technical risks are being underestimated and say space-based data centers won’t be competitive on cost, especially if power and other constraints ease on the ground.”

The politics we have as Americans ultimately is up to us. We can choose for our democracy to be a dreary march to the drab center or running over groups of people with a metaphorical bus. Or we can choose an imagination battle that realigns the center so we can fight and build on favorable terrain.
