Thanksgiving, a wonderful holiday where the main focus is giving thanks and then eating all the yummy food I've spent the last 3 days cooking.

I hope no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving day.
For those of you who are Ex-US, I hope you have a nice meal today too!

Has anyone figured out yet what Elon is going to do with that Trillion dollars?

13k comments on one tweet is a massive payout. All of the tweets follow a certain formula, so the content is likely automated using AI technology (e.g., AI generated images and text). Basically running it as a money printing machine. But for those in the US, it translates to low simmering rage.

Sounds about right.
CEO: We need to cut costs.

Accountant: We paid you $50 million last year. You are being paid $1 million for this meeting.

CEO: Who's that in the hallway?

Accountant: That's Greg. He is the only thing keeping this company together. We pay him in nickels and Grubhub gift cards.

CEO: Fire Greg.

Insight Timer isn't a Buddhism app per se, but it might as well be. It isn't grifty because the free version is just fine, but you can support many excellent creators through it.

I'd recommend it in addition to other apps for meditation and learning.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

New fear unlocked!
Mud volcano! 🔥
⚒️🧪 The Wandan mud volcano in southern Taiwan erupted again yesterday (12/11/25)!

The eruption occurred at 3 vents. Sadly one vent was under a house.

This is its 11th eruption in the last ~3 years, most recently in June 2025.

Best with sound on.

More proof that Sean Duffy lied when he said Trump was canceling private flights at the same rate as commercial ones.

A new report shows that private jet travel saw massive increases as thousands of commercial flights were being canceled.

I saw this blue tang fish at a garden centre this weekend. Apparently it’s 29 years old. Didn’t expect that.

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Interesting article targeting wealth inequality, and a great suggestion by the "Patriotic Millionaires".

Ground all private jets during the shutdown, instead of public flights.

They depend on ATC, yet pay a fraction of the taxes needed to run the FAA.

These millionaires have a suggestion for the FAA: Cancel all private jet flights during the shutdown
Private jets make up one in six flights handled by the FAA, and taxpayers already foot the bill for their 'jet setting,' says Patriotic Millionaires.
