Update:

The admin is moving to quickly deport witnesses who saw ICE detainee die.

They say the man was just trying to get his meds.

ICE guards shackled him

Then they choked him.

The admin moved to deport the witnesses — right after they spoke to WaPo.

End the interview. Ask him why he isn’t resigning. Remind him that NATO is a signed ratified treaty & part of US law. Ask him why he’s so unserious & why he’s endangering our closest alliance. Do your damn job, for G-d’s sake. It’s not a false choice to Americans either.
WELKER: Is Greenland or NATO more vital to natl security?

BESSENT: That's obviously a false choice

W: Not to European leaders

B: They will come around & understand they need to be under the US security umbrella. What would happen in Ukraine if the US pulled support? The whole thing would collapse

So much of how the Trump administration acts can be explained by them being weak and servile bullies who cannot understand any human relationship that is not dominance-subservience. E.g., they foolishly invaded Minneapolis because if someone stronger threatened them, they’d cravenly lick his boot.
Before someone replies and points to all of the exceptions and unscrupulous things the US has done, I agree. It was never just idealism and soft power. But that is what differentiated it from prior Empires that depended on coercion. It is what the Trump admin does not understand now.

I think this is specifically and very seriously wrong. The reforms following each of these crises were inadequate, and diminished progressively by the failure to adequately address the previous crisis. That curve continues to Trump, who was convicted of dozens of felonies and then reelected.

You have to hang Jefferson Davis. You have to put Bull Connor and Richard Nixon in their own prisons. Otherwise you get Connor, and then Nixon, and then Trump.

It's sad for the athletes but countries should start formally announcing their boycotts and fans can apply pressure by writing to associations about why they're boycotting.
We cannot possibly host the World Cup during this madness. Same with the Olympics.

Congress can and must preemptively close the door on any prospect of annexation. And threaten forced restitution of any ill-gotten gains, with sanctions and criminal penalties for those seeking to exploit an illegal seizure of Greenland’s resources.

Leave no path but retreat.

The only constitutional amendment MAGA judges like is the Second Amendment, and as soon as citizens try to bear arms in a place ICE has invaded, the MAGA judges will turn against that too.
Judge Kacsmaryk rejects challenge by West Texas A&M University's LGBQT club to drag show ban, saying the First Amendment doesn't protect "self-expression in all forms, and certainly not the libertine 'expressive conduct' absolutism envisioned" by the group. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Congress can stop ICE. Congress can block the use of force in Greenland. In other words, in this crisis, Congress can act to support civil liberties at home and free nations abroad. To fail to act would be to be complicit in a dreadful outcome.

Due to the Roberts' SCOTUS, he can, in fact, have American citizens murdered with impunity
Quick update on the political situation in the US: the government is led by a billionaire pedophile who believes he can murder American citizens with impunity.

Seems bad!

The tone-deafness of using "When citizens are accused of a crime, they are given the presumption of innocence" in a letter defending the extrajudicial murder of an innocent protester sure is something.
Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

How much has ICE officer training deteriorated under Trump?
New deportation officers at ICE used to receive about 5 months of training; Academy training has now been shortened to just 47 days, a number "picked because Trump is the 47th president."

what do you call it when a rogue armed government agency tells an elected official they dont care if theyre breaking the law
Rep. Angie Craig: "We were told because this facility is being funding by the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' not the congressional appropriations act, that we would not be allowed to enter the facility. That's complete nonsense ... I informed them they were violating the law. They said they didn't care."

This agency is out of control if leadership is no longer checking violations of constitutional rights. Congress absolutely must step in before more people are kidnapped/killed.
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

To be honest, though, the city should force them to make this explicit. Show up with an arrest warrant and then have them brandish their guns and refuse to accept it, like the criminal gang they are.
"The question that you're basically asking is, can our cops arrest them? From a legal perspective, yes. From a practical perspective...they have bigger guns than we do." That's where we're at.
