Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.
To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough,
, just so
other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Gross. And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future. Al is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.

Let It Be was the 12th Beatles released, but the 11th recorded. The actual 12th Beatles album gives us the most obvious answer to “who had the best 12th album?”

what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

It is undeniable that this moment is being shaped by people who marinated for years in an informational environment where reality was not only demoted but actively disdained. It took a while for that bubble to become impermeable but it did and now we have a chunk of people who know nothing but.

If there isn't a rapid and vast rejection of this by every level of civil society, the consequences will be counted in dead neighbors.

What Robert Redford contributed to American films via Sundance is genuinely immeasurable. He was also an extraordinarily talented director--Ordinary People and Quiz Show are two of the best American studio movies of their eras--and an actor who somehow wore his incredible charisma almost shyly. RIP.

1. Been thinking a lot about Judith Butler’s notion of “grievability” with respect to Charlie Kirk, Gaza, Melissa Hortman and others.

It’s a way of thinking about whose lives are socially recognized as valuable and, therefore, whose deaths are publicly mourned.

The reaction to Kirk’s murder on the right is a reminder that Republicans are the most bad faith people on the face of the planet.

I think some men want to watch the world burn, but some other men just don’t mind if that’s a consequence of their competition to have the most money ever.

If it’s run for profit, then it’s profiting off of … us.

When I hear that the post office lost money, I think this: Good. We already paid for it. Why on earth should it make even more money from us? Who would keep the money? Would we see it?

I don't want to start a thing so I'll just say that there will never be a good argument for privatizing USPS. That would be like privatizing libraries. The aim of services isn't to be run for profit, they are for serving the greater good, which USPS has been extremely successful at.

The “problem” with vaccines? They so effective at preventing deaths that they create generations of people that question whether disease was a problem in the first place because they have never experienced the horrors of a world without vaccines.

IMO many Americans don't even buy guns for personal protection or to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. They simply have a shopping addiction
A family outside their home. Their deck is loaded with guns. A man in his living room. His living room is full of guns. There's also a big safe labeled "Liberty." A man outside his home. The walkway into his home is full of guns. A woman outside her garage. The front of her home is full of guns, some laid out in a star formation.

One of the best pieces I’ve read in ages about where we are now. Does that brilliant and impossibly difficult thing of articulating core truths that you know and have even shouted across tables at people but reframing them so you see them with a different clarity & can redefine your own argument.

Laura Loomer as the Rasputin figure in a decaying American empire really does make total sense. An attention-addicted College Republicans washout who looks like she told her plastic surgeon "just keep going until I say stop" is our rough equivalent of a Siberian sex wizard.
