Every person who says "of course there are some uses for LLMs" should be forced to immediately list what those uses are, taking into account that:

a) they cannot be accurate and there is no way to make them accurate

b) they have been repeatedly shown to make users dumber and worse at their jobs

it’s honestly astounding to me how many people think that renaissance artists were just out there creating art purely for love of the game with no financial incentive

I miss season 2 of the internet when Google actually worked and I didn't have to run baby animal pics through an Al checker and my washing machine wasn't texting me 2-factor auth codes

my pet peeve is when someone expresses frustration at the world, i say "i'm sorry", and they say "it's not YOUR fault" like . first off, using "i'm sorry" to offer condolences is WAY more common than using it to apologize. and second off, "i accept your apology, but don't do it again" is WAY funnier

Ppl need to stop seeing problems as competition. If I have a tack in my toe & you have a nail in your arm: the nail might be worse but I STILL have to deal with my toe. I don’t HAVE a nail in my arm. I have to deal with what I have. My toe hurts a lot. That doesn’t diminish your arm pain.

Not sure why I'm thinking about this today but anybody who says “love it or leave it” is wildly wrong about love. Ignoring problems isn’t love, you’re thinking of enabling. If you love something, you try to fix it. If a pipe bursts in your house you don't choose between sewage smell and moving out.

The dichotomy of art blogs whose headers are like "ooh, watch out, this blog is NAUGHTY" and you have to scroll for minutes to see a nipple versus art blogs whose headers are like "sometimes NSFW" and the pinned post depicts a character doing something thermodynamically impossible with their penis.

I think people underestimate their ability to help support a game just by telling a friend about it.

If I hear a designer talk about their game, I'm not usually convinced.

If my friend Will tells me to check out a game, I'm looking.

Your words, oftentimes, are just as powerful as your wallet.

Normalize hard conversations with your partners. They're just trying to be heard, and you often come out way more understanding and full of trust than beforehand.

GOD liz is so right here. making art teaches you to SEE in ways that are sublime and wonderful.
I would also add, that making art can really unlock your ability to see the craft and effort that goes into making everything in the world around you. The amount of times I have stopped on walks to admire random industrial greeble is impossible to count.

making creative work is so much more than a means to a finished product.

it will feed your heart. the skills you learn will connect to other things in surprising ways. its fun to do. you get to make the things you've always wanted to see and have precious little blorbos.
