On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked,

"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"

Allow our scaled diagram to explain...

Harrison Ford should be the patron saint of inexpensive small-studio video games.

Think about it: he's a carpenter who played Indiana Jones and Han Solo.

He's an indy rogue-like deck builder.

“If history forgets this game, then fuck history.”

I said that in my review of Nier: Automata back when it launched. Replaying it now, and it’s still so damn good. Important playing for anyone interested in using the medium of games to tell a story.

History did well to remember it.

I believe the path to liberation is through the creation of parallel structures as alternatives to state-married governance, but those structures do not exist right now.

And it is very hard to build a boat on the fly because you just got tossed overboard off the battleship

We will always need modes of collective decision-making, allocation of resources, and implementation.

You can dislike the state (and also the way our governance is/was structured) and still recognize that dismantling governance altogether is a recipe for absolute disaster.

The state is pretty simply a monopoly on violence. Government is how our resource distribution and decision-making are structured/implemented

In nation-states the two are yoked together pretty inseparably, but they serve different purposes.

If you hate the state but find yourself aghast at Musk's dismantling of our government, it helps to remember that state and government are two different things

4 yrs ago today, a family member managed a truly spectacular own goal, splintered his domestic bliss, & in the process, united the world for a day.

On popular request, I shall now recreate the livetweet thread from that day

So gather around children, for this is the tale of The Rice Truck Saga

Excellent beginning to the Hugo nomination season. Thank you, Glasgow!

(also, the quoted post is part of a larger thread about the Hugos for this year, and worth reading)
At the time of announcing the final Hugo ballot, we will also publish the reasons for any disqualifications of potential finalists, and any withdrawals of potential finalists from the ballot.

ok so what happened was.

in 2018, California passed prop 12, which required that pigs, chickens, and cattle all get a certain amount of space to move around. the chicken and cattle industries complied. the pork industry, however, was like "no we need to cram the pigs in cages" and sued to stop it.
Is there any chance we could get a thread on Rufus? I need more pics and more background information on this furry drunkard.
