if you havent cancelled spotify yet and this isnt the final nail in the coffin for you, i really dont know what else to say other than i hope some introspection finds you soon
In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

The way AI is being shoved down our throats and how studios are starting to embrace it ??? Is so absolutely fucking terrifying to me, and scary for our industry and I feel like I can’t ignore it anymore. It’s so fucked. I hate it so much. What is happening. 🫠

"X isnt compatible on Linux"

Like do they understand if enough people switched that software developers would make their programs compatible to chase back customers?

And more users mean more feedback to improve FOSS projects even further?

About the only way this got voted as GOTY on Steam over Clair Obscur E33 are these weirdly invested hyper-fans.
I played a few hours. Apart from the horrible difficulty balancing early on& sticking to years old bad annoying design, it's a good game.
But not 29\10 good.

I'm not somebody who's benefited from 'the algorithm' but here's my observation:

If you are truly passionate about some media and the fanart you're drawing happens to be the big THING, it usually does numbers

If you draw fanart only for the bandwagon/trend, it will do okay but nowhere near as good
artists! the social media landscape has changed so much in the past years. what are you doing to promote your art / get visibility? what's working / not working for you?

forever facepalming at these headlines. yeah we fucking knew screens were bad in cars, that's why there's been all this fuss about using phones while driving long before touchscreens got crammed into the center console. everyone knew it was stupid from the jump AND YET
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

Cans of Beans was a webcomic that stayed with me for over 7 years of my life and saw me through three distinct stages of my life, from art college to game dev

I wrote a LONG blog post reflecting on this, which includes a lot of fun old art and sequel thoughts

I made the switch from Firefox to Librewolf 6 months ago when it came that Mozilla would sell users data after all. It's been great so far, I recommend it, though I'll be keeping a close eye on Ladybird.
