Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Fish cranial kinesis model is now listed in my Etsy shop! Hopefully useful for showing the mechanism that opens and closes a teleost fish's mouth.

It was refugees and asylum seekers up until recently, and it's now suddenly indefinite leave to remain. Next, it will be naturalised citizens. Then 2nd and 3rd generation citizens. There will be no end.

They actually say it's wrong that minorities feel hurt by racist behaviours and if they feel hurt or feel unsafe, then they should leave the country, go back to where they came from. They say that. I've seen this happen.
drmambobob.bsky.social
You're not allowed to call out racist behaviours as racist, so the next best thing you can do is to tell a human story of how those behaviours hurt ethnic minorities. But then they tell you that minorities shouldn't get hurt by that. That's what they say. You can't win.

Sometimes your paper gets critiqued from people you weren't expecting - like from ppl out of that field. I wonder if that's a reflection of how bad your work was that it triggered ppl like that to comment on it - or if it had made enough an impact to draw random criticism from random people...

A bully believes that kindness is weakness. A fool believes that bullying is strength. A true warrior knows that a bully is weak, and that compassion and kindness are strengths they could never comprehend.

“I voted for none of this."

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

"It is understood, however, that the rule would not apply to EU nationals with settled status in the UK, as their right to receive benefits forms part of post-Brexit arrangements with the bloc."

...so it's not just xenophobia...

“Another part of the plan would limit benefits to people with UK citizenship, removing it even from those who have been in the country for years or even decades and have indefinite leave to remain”

If this is not xenophobia then I don’t know what is.
Sickening.

‘Benefits’ are not a privilege, they a safety net for individuals AND for society. They protect people from starving to death AND they protect businesses from collapsing because people can keep shopping for essentials. Benefits are thus ‘ESSENTIAL’ to a functioning society.

Also, what if there's no "home" to go back to?

yeah like even state pension needs you to be here for 10 years to even be eligible for it even while you're paying in after arrival. imagine being here 30 or 40 years then being told "sorry no pension btw"

"well they could just leave", with zero thought put into the fact that maybe the non-eu resident is married to a british citizen, or both residents have ILR and can't have dual nationality and are faced with their family split off to 2 totally different nations. not a shred of basic "waitaminute.."

An explicitly racist policy then

If you attend or work at a university in the UK, chances are you know someone who is on Indefinite Leave to Remain. Please consider what the recent attacks on ILR from both Reform and Labour are doing to those people you probably know.

I'm Jewish. I'm also Mancunian.

Every other national party leader was interviewed by Laura Kunesberg during their conference.

Maybe the BBC thought as someone who also supports Palestine - I had nothing to say?

If I were a British citizen, I'd certainly join the Green Party.
Why?
Because as soon as Zack Polanski was elected, he started to say sensible things, explaining his decisions and the way problems should be solved, in a very clear way.
I can sense honesty, true commitment, will to change things.
