I dunno dude we might end up like France which historically has the most strike days in the EU & that got them… Let’s see here…. A 35 hour / 4 day work week enshrined in law, what in the fuck? One of best universal healthcare systems in the world, you fucking kidding me?
What if.... maybe.... everyone goes on strike....
BREAKING: Starbucks Workers United is going on strike.

Tomorrow unionized Starbucks workers are walking out in multiple key cities. And @sbworkersunited.org's rolling strike will grow in the coming days.

537 stores and 10,000+ workers are in the union and could potentially strike.

having spent the past few days in silicon valley in various gatherings with our AI overlords, governments, & scholars at the forefront of everything AI, I seriously wonder if the AI industry has become too big to fail

with all due respect, 'techlash' comes from years of shitty tech systematically forced into people's lives with no option to opt out, disenfranchising the most marginalised, turning public spaces into a surveillance nightmare, and now genAI destroying the earth, all to make a handful men richer
2. The biggest reason folks hate tech and the industry broadly is partly because of a deep lack of understanding of how content moderation works but also because 'techlash' is trendy.

There's an entire, extremely lucrative, grift built on generating hate towards tech.

This fact-check from ABC News is what I've been asking for from the NYT for literally years now. Our health care is held to an impossibly-high standard while politicians banning it are allowed to lie lie lie.
Researchers dive into common gender-affirming care youth misconceptions, questions
Health care providers who specialize in this field say there is a lot of misinformation about what gender-affirming care for transgender minors means.

I try to remember that whenever we talk about how much of a fucked up horror show the world is, what we mean is that the world is full of good people being wronged and beauty being destroyed, that we risk losing all of it—not a denial of the good in the world but its affirmation.

Twenty-five years ago today, Lucy Lawless hosted "Saturday Night Live." This one sketch she did burned itself into my brain.

I wrote about it once. It's still, maybe stupidly, one of the things I am most proud of.

The Story of How ‘Saturday Night Live’ Made the "Stevie Nicks’ Fajita Roundup" Sketch
In 1998, Lucy Lawless brought down Studio 8H with an impression of the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman imagined as the owner of a bad Mexican restaurant. The sketch is not one of ‘SNL’s’ most famous, b...
