“Uruguay did what most nations still call impossible: it built a power grid that runs almost entirely on renewables—at half the cost of fossil fuels. The physicist who led that transformation says the same playbook could work anywhere—if governments have the courage to change the rules.”

What’s the point of writers’ festivals — or, for that matter, writers — if they can’t discuss issues that matter? Australian arts administrators would rather destroy the whole sector than allow Palestinians to speak about genocide. It’s beyond shameful.

I do not believe in the death penalty for humans.

I do support the death penalty for corporations.

When they murder people, let's dissolve them. Break them up, destroy their technology, nationalize their assets.

If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

its incredible to read how the regime has to do a hard sell on the oil companies for this. president grandpas 1989 brain does it again. oil is 50 dollars a barrel and the infrastructure is degraded and the situation completely confused and politically volatile. oil ceos not exactly excited. amazing
whatever the real reason for this was by the smart guys, the stated reason for the addled moron in charge is oil. and that's darkly funny considering we don't need it

Having killed hundreds of aid workers, Israel is now completely banning 37 aid orgs from entering Gaza, including Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, Oxfam, Caritas, and World Vision. This is an obvious war crime and thousands will die.
Any comment from our government?
'Simply unprecedented': Israel banning dozens of charities from Gaza
The Israeli government says the organisations have not met new requirements, which include recognising Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and banning any so-called "de-legitimisation" of Israel.

Started the year right yesterday with a big ride around Mulligans Flat. Saw 8 (eight!) echidnas. Here is one trying their best to not get papped, but I papped em all.

When you get the reputation of being the guy with the encouraging words on New Year's Eve, it can start to come through as a little pressure -- what if the situation on the ground is worse than usual? what if people are more scared than they usually are, and with cause? what use are good vibes then?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that two years of weaponised genocidal mass murder in Gaza has probably made global political violence and terror *MORE* likely, not *LESS* likely

And that opposing mass death makes you anti-terrorism, not pro-terrorism
