I hate these charts so much because they imply chatgpt is comparable to the internet or phones

You could create the same graphic for full screen pop-up advertising on websites and make them look like ultra-rapid technology adoption when really they were just baked unavoidably into the internet
In 2025, AI became pervasive in American life and the economy, with ChatGPT surging in adoption much faster than any other major technology in memory. @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Eek. There‘s been quite the spike in the wastewater surveillance. And anecdata also suggests an increase in Covid cases in the Wellington region. My neighbours have just all had it, and one of the leads in my daughter’s ballet show had to pull out because she got sick.

Maybe a controversial take: there’s so many wonderful gender-neutral perfumes out there which I would like even better if the ambroxan was switched out to a woody or spicy note.

It’s amazing indoor smoking ever got banned. Not like you light a cigarette and drop dead the next day which seems to be the standard for action these days.

Reupping because I was just followed by a half-dozen of these.

Content farm accounts aren't just a problem because they steal content; that's just step 1. Once they accumulate followers, the accounts are wiped, sold, and repurposed. They're the foundation of scaled manipulation of the social web.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with tweetdecking, I regret to inform you that all those accounts posting beautiful nature pics and cool science facts are spam. Always have been. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/juliareinstein/exclusive-networks-of-teens-are-making-thousands-of-dollars
Delighted that all my favorite tweetdecking content farms have made the switch to Bluesky, too. Hi friends!! You been good since the last time I banned you? Ok cool

I am not sorry. This is simply true. Academics should be able to write fluently and express themselves clearly and academics should do their own work. It’s literally our job. It’s what we trained until 22nd grade to do. This is a simple observation that should require no explanation or defense.
I’m sorry, but it is disgraceful to be an academic who uses this technology to conduct research. It should be prohibited in all of our scholarly institutions, including universities and journals.

I love coming across instagram accounts of people who moved to the balkans. Most of them do it because they are married to someone from the balkans or they are originally from there and returning.

Tell that to the family of Leia Sampson-Grimbly.

She is also ignoring all the other harm her ban is causing, that I have documented here in my peer-reviewed (unlike the Cass Review) research.

it’s truly wild the canadian government or even the provinces aren’t going harder on amazon. the company literally shut down all its warehouses in quebec because workers unionized!

this is an evil company that gets away with it because it’s seen as convenient, the costs be damned.
I wrote about the growing scrutiny Amazon is facing in New York. The overwhelming majority of the city council has now co-sponsored a bill that would force the company to directly employ its last-mile delivery workforce.
It’s Time for New York to Take On Amazon
Amazon has long evaded unionization of its last-mile delivery drivers by subcontracting them to third-party companies. Legislation introduced by socialist New York City Council member Tiffany Cabán co...
