This happened to me recently with a professional development training. The entire thing is made with AI and I immediately bought out. They were so proud about it, too.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

This also. Last I saw, only 7% of writers actually make a living from writing alone.
And the folks who are actually writing full-time generally only got there after years of day jobs, family support, or both.

The point of sharing this is not to demoralize anyone, but to let emerging writers know they're not failing if they can't make a living off writing alone. Almost no one can.
almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.

Also, telling authors just to self-publish, like it is some magic wand to getting recognition and getting paid for your writing, is not as easy as people make it out to be.

As of today, I have sold roughly 40 copies of Man on Fire and made about $70. It came out in January. I market it myself.
2. It's rare for any creative, including writers, to be able to live solely off their creative income. Moreover, there is no correlation between the creative value of art and the income status of its creator. It's okay to have another gig to eat and pay bills and survive our capitalist hellscape.

Spooky season demands an unlucky chapter thirteen for this week's #deadwalkerwednesday.

Idris power-dresses. Lila makes a powerful enemy. Thistle is displeased.
