Audience culture is the worst it's ever been, I swear to god. People forgot how to act. I'm at the theater, trying to enjoy my show, which I've paid GOOD MONEY for, and these two old assholes are in the balcony heckling the life out of the poor bear onstage. Not letting him finish a single joke.

Also, anybody can garden, it is a skill that can be learned. A big issue for Americans is that we just don't have the gardening culture of other countries, so if you don't learn as a kid, it can be overwhelming to pick up as an adult. Get Britbox and watch Gardener's World. They break stuff down.

Silent movies are better than modern movies because they always shoot their shot. There's no namby-pamby saving the good stuff for the sequel(s). They have you there and they WILL entertain you with everything they have.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

Classic poster for A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH (1946), a film every cinema lover should know. It’s 104 minutes of pure magic from writer-directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger - helped hugely by Jack Cardiff’s beautiful cinematography.
