"I’m frustrated around the macro level, but on the micro level I really do believe this is what true organizing looks like: neighbor to neighbor, family to family, person to person.”

@maustermuhle.bsky.social's story on how D.C. fought back against ICE was one of our team's favorites this year:
With cellphone cameras and tip lines, D.C. residents find small ways to fight ICE
How neighbors and school communities are organizing against the immigration crackdown.

FYI, printing to PDF should collapse the layers and make any redactions or other edits more permanent.

Source: myself who has worked for nonprofits a long time and no Adobe licenses.
This is perfect. The DOJ's embarrassing snafu with disappearing redactions was the fault of Elon Musk. Musk cancelled government subscriptions to Adobe programs that would have made the redactions permanent. What a pack of fools.

With thanks to @vanhollen.senate.gov for not letting his case go. Now to protect him from additional harassment and enforcing accountability on the ghouls who did this to him.

Ooooh.

The basic white girl obsession with hydration and giant thermos cups makes sense if this is their reference point for food.

I feel like downing an extra 32 oz of water just looking at this.

The TDAP or DTAP shot is so critical for babies too young to be vaccinated. People can get a shot during pregnancy that provides some protection, but it is on the rest of us to prevent this transmission.

Shame to everyone who could get the vaccine and actively chose not to.

This is…brilliant.
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

A federal judge ruled yesterday that Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in D.C. was unlawful.

It illegally infringes upon the city’s ability to direct law enforcement and undermines Congress’s local authority, the ruling says.

What comes next? @maustermuhle.bsky.social reports:
Federal judge rules Trump’s deployment of National Guard in D.C. is ‘unlawful’
The 2,300 Guardsmen aren’t headed home just yet, though.

There is something poetic about how the old rusting hulk of the RFK stadium in DC is finally being taken down now.
In celebration of what would have been Robert F. Kennedy’s 100th birthday, Maxwell Taylor Kennedy has penned an op-ed celebrating his father’s legacy—and savaging his brother, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for tearing it down.

I am very curious to see what Thanksgiving travel days look like this year. Will people switch from planes to trains/bus? Driving? Or just stay home? Or try to fly regardless? And how will that differ from audience here versus country at large?

We could make this real fucking simple. Call it Medicare for All. Single-payer. Whatever. Insurance cos as government contractors or eliminate the sector entirely and pay direct to providers. I don’t give a shit. But access to healthcare is a basic human right and we should start acting like it.
