This maps very well to my experience of transfags in text-based ERP/TS on older games like MU*s. Lots of people who were (or are, in addition to their transfaggotry) lesbians, before ERP/TS gave them a way to navigate their gender without judgement or shame, formed unique queer communities.
learning someone from my alma mater wrote their master thesis on being a transmasc ERPer in FFXIV and this might be the best thing ive ever read in my life (im literally only 6 pages into it)

There's a certain subset of Western Communists - some Jewish! I've never been able to pin the ideology down better - that believes almost as a matter of principle that every ethnicity is from exactly where it lived in 1800 because the past is unknowable and all claims are nationalist myth.
