Lib Dems are chasers, shock of the century

I feel the need to draw everyones attention to this truely cursed bit of polling

Genuine question as I’m not super knowledgeable on this - aren’t there loads of other places they can build that just aren’t on national parks?
elizabethtaylor47.bsky.social
Also comparing criticism of the flags to TERFs delegitimising trans identity was um… pretty interesting x

I can’t wait. I feel like Bluesky is so dry about this stuff, there is no appreciation for camp on here 😭

Also lowkey a homophobic and transphobic policy 😭

In normal times one would think Leavers would realise it's a vote-loser. But that's not the point: as with trans rights they're trying to change public opinion through constant propaganda. It took little over 7 years to go from the cusp of Gender Recognition Act liberalisation to de facto abolition

This is devastating but hard to think of more important journalism. 18,457 children have been killed in Gaza (many more not accounted for). Here, The Guardian prints their names and beautiful faces and tells us what they were like before Israel stole their lives. www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...
Young lives cut short on an unimaginable scale: the 18,457 children on Gaza’s list of war dead
Every name on a list compiled by health authorities in Gaza of the child victims of Israel’s offensive

I know it’s not every members no1 priority but there are a lot of LGBT members who do feel very strongly, and it’s just… barely been mentioned.

And there’s loads of issues like that were there just hasn’t been a discussion of any kind. So odd.

It’s been a very odd deputy leadership election - barely any hustings or debate, very little substantive holding to account by journalists.

As a former Labour Party member I’m pretty gobsmacked that ie Phillipson has managed to conduct the whole campaign without being pressed on trans rights once!

This is absolutely vile, genuinely can’t believe people think this kind of language is acceptable to use about the only current Jewish leader of a UK political party
Rich @rich-bryant.uk

Hypnotits is worried his Red/Brown Greens will have nothing to do of a Saturday.

Also, he’s flat out lying. The government is not selling arms to Israel and neither are British companies. Slimy little Hamas hugger.

I dont really fully understand what you’re saying here.

I certainly am appalled at the expectation that young people especially WC ones are expected to act as mere units of economic output and I think wider attack on uni attendance is part of that.

Obviously with short form post can’t say it all
elizabethtaylor47.bsky.social
This isn’t “conservative” it’s reactionary bollocks.

I continue to be appalled every day at the rampant anti intellectualism of our political culture.

As someone who read English at uni, and would hardly identify as “patriotic” our literary canon is one of the most cherished and special parts of our heritage.

Badenoch wants to eliminate ‘rip off degrees’ like English. The usual philistine crap that a degree is just about work. The mission to create the stupidest nation on earth. And counterproductive. Young people will work for years. They’ll retrain endlessly. A degree can help them learn how to learn

Obviously all artists are engaging with capitalism blah blah

But the levels of greed and overconsumption that have become central to the “Swiftie” phenomenon is so gross to me.

Because of the unforgivably appalling decisions of the Charity Commission, these hate groups, Sex Matters and LGB Alliance, are funded from your taxes.

“The advantages of a first past the post system, of course, are that it prevents an overly fragmented parliament in which a stable governing majority cannot be found, and that it keeps the radical right down.”

To add to this one of the earlier jaw dropping moments of Guardian transphobic lies is when Hadley Freeman repeated the nonsense rumour that *Ian Huntley* was identifying as a woman and requesting to be moved to a female prison.

It was later retracted, but it was a real jump the shark moment

Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

This whole obsession with "too many people going to uni" is such a classic example of the parochialism of UK policymaking. No one bothers to ask why the % here is lower than in most other developed countries or whether that might be relevant.
