Public space is my jam. Uncool and self aware at the best of times. Opinions are only my own.

As we continue to discuss police resources, I keep thinking about what happened on my street this past summer.
(Police say man arrested was sitting inside car reportedly stolen.)

Speak plainly. Organize. Show up.

After their worst-ever results in the 2025 federal election, here’s what the NDP can learn from Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral campaign in New York City — which he officially won last night.

From July 2025. #canpoli #uspoli #ZohranMamdani
Four Lessons for Canada’s NDP from the NYC Mayoral Race | The Tyee

Time and again I hear people insist that any density is good but all buildings are not equal and investment condos are built to raise prices and resist affordable rent/housing. Let's not bail them out with RRSP. Maybe socialise them into public housing if they're so hard up?

We need a Housing Protection Act. If you want to increase sewer fees or parking requirements or historical preservation, the burden of proof is on you to produce a Housing Impact Assessment showing there are no adverse impacts on housing supply.

My mom called me last night about the Kimmel firing, saying "This is how Hitler got started!" I quickly responded, "By firing the late night tv hosts?"

Turns out, mom was right.

I support a democratically elected park board. Part of democracy is ensuring that the government’s decisions match the city’s values.

Vancouver is a city for all its people. Trans people included. I am calling on the Park Board to rethink this event and make this right.

Any company that does this in Canada should be widely reported on and won’t see another dime of mine. #ElbowsUp
My worry is that companies who have to raise prices in the US because of tariffs will also raise prices in Canada to cover any losses even if we don't have tariffs in Canada. #cdnpoli

A journalist with Canada’s public broadcaster was not allowed on the Canadian plane air dropping aid into Gaza because of Israeli restrictions.

When she made it onto a Jordanian plane, she was not allowed to film what she saw on the ground in Gaza because Israel forbids it from being shown.

POPs (privately owned, publicly accessible spaces), much like inclusionary zoning, are a well-intentioned idea in theory that consistently don't deliver, because some things are public goods to the point they can only be delivered at scale by governments.
Our public spaces are there for all of us. In 2013, we negotiated a beautiful courtyard in midtown Toronto for everyone to enjoy. A private company has now been using it for exclusive use, including weddings and corporate events. That won’t stand. www.thestar.com/news/gta/how...

For weeks now, us experts have been saying that this is fundamentally the crux of this trial : Does the legal system understand coercion? Today's conclusion is a loud and resounding no.
"I have found actual consent not vitiated by fear.” An incredible statement.

Reminder that the easiest way to get away with killing someone in Ontario is to run them over with your truck in broad daylight while they're on a bicycle and then claim you didn't see them -- it will only cost you $2,000 and 100 hours of community service. Zero Vision at its finest.

Zohran being asked in every single interview about “globalize the intifada” while zero pro-Israel politicians are asked how they can support a country committing war crimes is one of the most blackpilling things in recent memory.

The U.S. is such a backward, fucked up place.
