This South Side Weekly report on the Chicago building raid is well worth reading. Most striking to me are the indications of collusion between federal authorities and the building owner and management to effect a mass eviction at the blighted property. southsideweekly.com/federal-agen...

"I imagine this bill would make me very popular with City workers who drive into work every day from Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk," Restler told Hell Gate sarcastically. "Fortunately, they're not my constituents."

There is no semblance of traffic safety in New York City. Here is a ride share driver casually, nonchalantly watching home improvement TikTok on his phone that’s conveniently mounted on the dash while driving through Manhattan traffic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On the same day that the Adams administration implemented a 15-mph speed limit for e-bikes, these poor people were crushed by someone driving around the city with a novelty license plate. NYC needs real leadership, not asinine scapegoating and demagoguery.

I know painting sidewalks and bike lanes get them done quickly and cheaply. But at some point I'd like to see the city actually rebuild the streets with real sidewalks and protected bike lanes made of concrete and asphalt.

NYC sidewalks used to be wider. We cut them back for cars.

The DOT is planning to install "Super Sidewalks" along the busiest parts of the Canal Street corridor east of Broadway, along with a new westbound bike lane to join the existing eastbound lane on Grand Street.

The changes are a good start, but Canal Street deserves a radical transformation.

The college asserts that the play could be illegal.

it's that day, so it's time to share this piece that i co-wrote this with gita a few years back.

it's a look at the interesting and often incomprehensible way that young people process trauma in real time www.vice.com/en/article/h...
How 9/11 Became Fan Fiction Canon
We have spent 20 years trying to process the events of 9/11 and its fallout. For some, that meant trying to figure out how Buffy Summers would have reacted.
