Mastodon isn't owned by a billionaire, so it's less likely to get destroyed overnight. It's also a federated system, so if your server implodes, presumably you can move your followers/following lists to another server. Bluesky should work like that eventually, too, but it's not there yet.
Can I ask why you think Mastodon has a better chance of survival? I'm someone that has accounts on so many of the sites that I have to set up reminders to check them every couple months and, man, that's exhausting. 😮‍💨 Thanks in advance. 😃

I found the depiction of Sharon Tate particularly problematic. In a film that takes fictional revenge on her killers, she is shown as completely vacuous and without agency.

And the whole uncritical early 60s (aka 50s culture) nostalgia comes with baggage.

A similar deflection has taken place on what was Trump's greatest vulnerability, failing to protect Americans during the pandemic. I suspect most Republicans would now say Fauci, Democrats or pharma companies are more responsible.

Apart from the content, I'm also really into the form. I suspect if I were to remake the whole western comics industry to my will, the 20-24-issue-equivalent softcover format would be what I'd want as the main mass-market object. How one gets to that object , of course, is another story.
Finished THE COMPLE(D) SAUCER COUNTRY. For my money, the best of the late classic period Vertigo books, finally wrapped up on Zoop after 2 publishers. X-files meets the West Wing is the easy pitch, but (like the best Vertigo) really a device for a team to dig deep into their obsessions. Strong stuff

It's diceless , and runs off a token economy, with you using resolve tokens to change the world. There's a negotiation stage when it's with another person (and the person who agrees gets the tokens which they can then use the tokens for their own ends.) There's alsoa. bunch of reputation stuff.

Sandmen: Audio in the Age of Netflix
Neil Gaiman's The Sandman has cultivated a massive fanbase, and masses of adaptations. Why is the 30-year audio project considered inferior to the TV show?

"electronic" is a subset of "electric." Devices that use the energy for information processing of some kind are electronic. A hair dryer that converts electricity to heat or a lamp that converts it to light are electric but not electronic.

Quite literally, ~100% of Trump coverage erases ~100% of his presidency. We had 4 years of lawless authoritarianism, incompetence, & presidency-ending-worthy scandals (yes, the daily overt monetization of the WH at the hotel down the street), & it's just horse race theater coverage all over again 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
A strange thing about media coverage of Trump and the border: It largely erases his term as president. He didn't fix anything. He too released enormous numbers of migrants. He couldn't get his own plan passed *with unified GOP control.*
