Periodic reminder: Trump has done everything imaginable to piss off senior military.
-Keep Hegseth who endangers their lives
-Favor whiteness/maleness over competence
-Self-aggrandize in speeches; ramble about trophy wives.
-Mock them on hallowed ground.

Honestly, Trump's decision to offer pardons for $250,000 is his biggest move to reduce prices.

you have to imagine that this probably also happens when there doesn't happen to be a Herald reporter randomly sitting there to see it happen
"A Miami Herald reporter witnessed the agents forcefully removing Dayana — who is 4-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs 85 pounds — from her white Toyota Corolla. The footage shows Dayana yelling at the reporter to help her and that she was a United States citizen"

jesus the Palm Beach Police really sought arrest warrants against underage Epstein victims for coming forward and cooperating, and (purported) admitting to crimes, and it caused the victims to become uncooperative with the federal investigation

One Christmas I was showing my Gen Z cousin around the house and upon seeing a floppy disc on my desk, he declared “Oh cool, you printed out the save icon.”
One thing I love is obsolete technology being encoded in our language. Words like “footage” and “rewind” and “dial (as a phone)” that literally describe a physicality that doesn’t exist anymore, yet lingers linguistically. Anybody have any other examples?

🚨 The DOJ appears to have redacted Donald Trump’s name from the allegations made in this exhibit in the Epstein files.

Trump’s name was in the original release. Now, it’s blacked out.

See for yourself.

Plus side of this is that I have some academic expertise in letters of marque and privateering and related albeit rather archaic state licensed piracy on the high seas so I could go on tv as an expert in something.
😳 On 12/18/25, Senator Mike Lee posted:

“Would you like to seize cartel assets as a privateer?

My bill would allow the president to issue you a letter of marque.

Time to take these pirates down. 🏴‍☠️” 1/ x.com/senmikelee/s...

This is obscene.

Marco Rubio (together with Trump & Musk) is to blame for the the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people already this year (& millions more to come) through disease & malnutrition because of the USAID shutdown.

Say that, not this.

With no shade to @asharangappa.bsky.social at all, because I understand where she's coming from, I disagree. SCOTUS already said people cannot be rapidly deported under the Alien Enemies Act a la the CECOT deportations, ICE can deport most Venezuelans anyway, and the AEA solves few logistics issues.
I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along
There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.

DNC's unreleased report says Dems need to take on immigration more directly, a DNC official tells me. But it's unclear what this means in practice. By failing to release the report, the DNC is effectively evading the public debate over how to address the issue at a time when Trump is tanking on it:
The DNC's failure to release the report also seems to evade taking a public stand on some of the biggest questions in the party right now, such as how to talk about immigration:

Food shortages, tents filled with sewage, and medical neglect are the grim norm at ICE's Fort Bliss detention center.

Every new facility that ICE rushes to open is destined to be plagued by the same inhumane conditions unless Congress takes action.

Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

FOUR new deaths in ICE detention. That puts the total this year at 30 people dead; the highest in ICE's history and worse than even during the COVID years.

It's clear that the system is breaking down. Many of these are preventable deaths.
In the 90 minutes since I posted this, I've gotten two more death notifications.

ICE has a responsibility to take care of these people, something they are clearly disregarding. This is beyond horrifying. We must ensure dignity and humanity for detained people in this country.
Within 15 minutes today, I got two back-to-back notifications of deaths at ICE facilities.

28 people have died in ICE custody since Trump took office. These facilities are overcrowded & are putting their own profits over health and safety. We need oversight & accountability NOW.

Really remarkable number in here: 62% of independents favor path to legalization over deportations. Trump and Stephen Miller are actively, relentlessly pushing the country in a pro-immigrant direction.

Maybe those who argued against attacking Trump on this due to "salience" fears got this wrong?
New Quinnipiac poll:

57% favor path to legalization for undocs vs 35% who back deporting them

Trump underwater on immigration (44-54) and on deportations (42-55)

Meanwhile DHS's Twitter feed is a white nationalist sewer pit and Gregory Bovino is swaggering around like an occupying general
