Gearing up to embark on my JetBlue #25For25 quest this weekend. I’m starting off with 4/25 from a trip earlier this summer BOS-FLL-SJO-JFK. Attempting the remaining 21 flying only on weekends and spending as little out of pocket as possible. Follow along if you like ✈️🤓

The more coverage if this, the better.

There needs to be tremendous pressure on DOD to explain what the hell happened & why the most basic piece of equipment in the aircraft - a transponder - was not in use.
A JetBlue pilot changed elevation to avoid colliding with a U.S. Air Force plane in the southern Caribbean on Friday, he told air traffic controllers.

The New York-bound flight was leaving the island of Curaçao, just north of the Venezuelan coast.
‘Outrageous’: JetBlue pilot describes near-collision with Air Force plane off Venezuela
The airline pilot told Curaçao air traffic control that “we almost had a mid-air collision” with an unidentified military aircraft.

One of the best things you can do right now is read books. Buy them. Borrow them from the library. Gift them.

Read history. Read fiction. Read science writing. Read anything that shows you the world is bigger than what fascists say it is.

Read to remember why your resistance matters. 📚💙

And just like that, my 25/25 journey has come to an end! 💪💙

Breathtaking photo! What incredible timing and talent to capture this moment!
This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

No one wants the government to remain shut down, least of all the people suffering the most because of its closure. But if you capitulate now, they will have suffered in vain. HOLD THE FUCKING LINE, you complicit, spineless cowards. @schumer.senate.gov @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social

You can have enormous frustration over the fact that air traffic controllers have to work with no pay, and already were understaffed, while at the same time being furious about Dens caving on healthcare costs. (I am.)

& if you think reopening the govt fixes ATC, you haven’t been paying attention.

There had better be trials. And not just for the low-level thugs carrying out these orders, but for everyone up the chain of command.

If we get past this, the solution isn’t to pretend it never happened and invite Stephen Miller to Harvard’s Institute of Politics.

It’s trials w real punishments.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Honestly, folks.

Today's electoral results are a referendum on fascism.

Take heart, peeps.

Grateful to live in MA!
Good.

Nice to see some folks actually valuing information, science, medicine, good health, and community.

Members of the new alliance include CA, CO, CT, DE, GU, HI, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, OR, RI, WA.

Boston should be on this list
Airports in at least Buffalo, Charlotte, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Seattle and Portland, citing the Hatch act that bars use of public resources for political activity, won’t air a video where DHS Secretary Kristi Noem blames Democrats for the shutdown.
Airports say they won’t air Kristi Noem shutdown video at TSA checkpoints
Travelers in Cleveland, L.A., Phoenix, Seattle and other cities will not see the footage, which blames congressional Democrats for shutdown-related flight delays.
