My friend at iGEM just came across a startup that managed to make transgenic saffron in a lab plant that is 100% legit. He said it smelled like it and was convinced. How cool is that!

I cannot help being impressed that, at a time when the US did not exist & much of Europe was still recovering from the collapse of the Roman Empire, the science, technology & literature of the East were translated here—often back into Latin—and passed to our northern neighbors through this School 🤔

I would like to read a 1000-page case study explaining why we still use serum for cell culture in biotech

- expensive
- poorly defined
- ground up cow fetuses are bad vibes
- replacing it seems super doable

Italian PM Giorgia Meloni has proposed a "NATO-Light" plan for Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.

That means security guarantees without NATO membership, obligating allies to provide rapid military and economic support if conflict with Russia resumes.

That’s probably better as the US can’t be counted on.
