I dream of a tolerant, compassionate society living respectfully alongside the non human residents of our blue planet 🌍

So far just a dream - but you never know

No DMs please.
It’s two and a half months since I lost my best friend Fay. It plunged me into a grief so profound it shocked me. In the great scheme of the world it seems a small thing I suppose but it was shattering.

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins?

He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions.

So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

When I was young, being a carer simply wasn’t talked about. We’ve come a long way since then, but government still all too often ignores the millions of carers across Britain.

I was proud to write the foreword to this IPPR report calling for real and transformative change.
[email protected] has been a carer for his mum, his nanna & now his son. As he says, most care isn’t in care homes but in our homes, given by families. We’re a nation of carers — but govt rarely sees it that way.

I’m not the first person to make this observation, but this being the biggest story in the world at present really speaks to how much Twitter still serves as a universal assignments editor for English-language journalists.

Why indeed?
Why in this Mandelson saga are we ignoring the elephant in the room? That we’re about to welcome and honour a man who was a great pal of Epstein and who continues to lie about that every day?

There were 62 shootings in the US on September 10th, including Utah. There were also 19 deaths due to these shootings, including Kirk. None of these people should have been shot. Gun control laws are necessary. None of these people should have died this way. www.gunviolencearchive.org/last-72-hours

Justin Webb just referred on Today to "platforms like Bluesky, where you can see the celebration of the killing" of Charlie Kirk.

What I'm seeing on here is overwhelming condemnation; despair at the violence of US politics; alarm at where this might go; & calls for equal horror at other shootings.

The fact that Reform were trying to run a person who had been dead for six months as their Croydon Mayoral candidate is proof if it were needed that they are not a serious party.

It demonstrates abject incompetence and no vetting as well as utter contempt for the electorate.

Completely bored of the MSM continually platforming Reform Ltd and their 4 MP’s.
There are 72 Lib Dem MP’s, 21 Independent MP’s, 9 for SNP, 7 for Sinn Fein, 5 for the DUP, 4 for the Green Party and 4 for Plaid Cymru.
Why, in the ever living fuck, does Reform get all the airtime all the time?

Watch this politician tell an Israeli ambassador straight to her lying face what virtually the whole world now feels. At least anyone with a conscience.

Brilliant.
“How dare you justify a genocide on the Palestinians?”

This is the moment Belgian politician and member of the Flemish Parliament, Jos D'Haese, slammed Israel’s ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Idit Rosenzweig-Abu, over the war on Gaza.

Making the Kühnen salute, with thumb, index and middle finger extended to form a “W”—as five protestors accompanying the Reform councillors are doing in the photo—is a criminal offence in Germany. The salute was popularised by the German Neo-Nazi Michael Kühnen.

Are the people putting up 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 flags on lampposts are aware that St George was of Turkish and Palestinian origin and almost certainly never set foot in England?
Would it make a difference to how they think about him? Perhaps they’d be yelling abuse at him - probably.

This is *immensely* stupid advice. They don’t use energy while they’re sitting on a hard drive not being accessed. They very much use energy while you’re going through them all and deleting them.

It’s also a fraction of a fraction of the energy saving you’d make by driving less or similar.

Legally, there isn't the slightest basis to the complaint, even on the most extreme possible interpretation of the Supreme Court judgement. A shop floor is not a single sex space, regardless of whether they sell bras or not. This is just hatred and spite, unleashed.
The employee asked the girl and her mother if they needed help shopping. That’s it. That’s all. The misinformation, the insinuations (because the facts are inconveniently benign) are EXACTLY what was done to lesbians in the 80s. This is the product of hate and fear, not reality.

Seconds later, having read the Telegraph piece I knew it was worse than that. It was deliberate hate mongering completely devoid of evidence, names and facts.
