As a composition professor, I always wrote the in-class essay with my students. For creative classes, I treated myself like a participant in workshops (very humbling when my story was under review!). As advisor of high school lit mag, I did all the writing prompts with students.
Creative writing teachers: Do you ever do the exercises you offer in class? I’m thinking about doing this as a way to try them out and also to be in tune with what the students are working with.
