Am I right in thinking Australia's conservatives / racists / bigots etc are pushing hard for this because they want several weeks of persistent bad publicity for the Albanese gov't + a platform for hate and racism feeding an anti-immigration media frenzy?
Albanese softens resistance to royal commission into Bondi attack as pressure mounts
Law Council of Australia joined calls from families of victims, business community, sporting identities and some former Labor MPs to launch inquiry

Absurd that Orana Estate in Melbourne wins prize for planting trees to reduce heat, while negating their efforts by letting dark roofs dominate thereby adding 10 degrees to the temp.

Everyone (ABC Journo, Local Gov, Developers etc) seem oblivious

Tree by tree, this new suburb is dodging baking heat in summer
Thousands of young trees dot the streets and front gardens of this outer Melbourne suburb as part of a neighbourhood-wide push to create more shade and curb the urban heat island effect.

"We urge all parties to support dialogue and diplomacy"? What kind of nonsense statement is this? The US just bombed them with no cause, kidnapped their president and his wife, and declared that they would be running the country in order to secure its oil for themselves.

Incredible how quickly Trump's insane criminality, now playing out in Venezuela, is transformed by 'serious people' into an 'oh well', like it's justifiable to invade other countries and kidnap their leaders. If our govt offers anything but outright condemnation, we have lost the plot.

Hey @albomp.bsky.social are you fully onboard with Australia's AUKUS partner unilaterally invading Venezuela in contravention of its own Constitution?
Are we going "all the way with the USA"? Or we will be sitting out this one and not joining Trump's Coalition of the Swilling?

If Australia doesn’t reject this US crime you will shed Labor voters by the thousands.

It would be practically and legally impossible to hold a royal commission that goes anywhere near the actions or motivations of the accused killer, before his criminal proceedings are concluded, which could take years. That limitation would render the royal commission itself pointlessly premature.

In 2026, remember that what matters is what you do, not what you think—and this is why the Zionist status quo is doing its best to strangle your ability to do anything, from protesting to speaking out to even how you spend your money or, more accurately, how you refuse to spend your money.

Calling out bad behaviour often leads to enormous adverse consequences for whistleblowers who might already be vulnerable. Those actually committing wrongdoing appear to be protected by power + privilege afforded by wealth and connections. It must change. www.sbs.com.au/news/article...
Why exposing wrongdoing in Australia isn't as easy as blowing the whistle
Proposed reforms would expand whistleblower protections, but advocates say they don't go far enough.

The idea that changing a definition to include criticism of Israel as being anti-Semitic and cracking down even further on anti-genocide protests would have in any way made anyone safer is madness. That the Coalition have so comprehensively jumped to blame here is insanity. Who is this speaking to?
