If the right *truly* believed Charlie Kirk was a defender of free speech and someone who was fine with dissenting opinions, they wouldn't be engaged in a massive campaign to punish anyone who didn't "mourn him properly."

They clearly know all of that is bullshit. Only the media was conned.

And FTR, whether or not you believe he “deserved” to get shot (few victims of gun violence “deserve” it), these are his words: "I think it's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

I think more than anyone else it was James Dobson who put me on the path to understanding that evangelical Christianity is evil garbage. I’ve hated that smug motherfucker since I was like eight years old.

Here Lies James Dobson. Laid to rest beside him is all the broken relationships between parents and children influenced by his teachings, and a functioning GOP that wasn't obsessed with a Christian nationalist vision at the expense of democracy itself.

the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

once again I have to invoke the specter of Ronald Wilson Reagan, who is in Hell now. under Reagan, the term "government spending" was effectively demonized. fuck you, Reaganite ghouls! spending money, on its people and their needs, is the function of government! public works are good! say so!

governments should spend money, literally all their fucking money. on taking care of the people from whom they got the money. on building cool shit for the people from whom they got the money to use, like highways and public works. this is real easy

how can these people be so bad at this
We should reject outright the framing that the answer is to cut spending, that it needs to be cut. Even giving in to that is playing into conservatives’ hands, letting them set the edges of the debate.
Welker to Slotkin: "Democrats were in charge for four years. You were in Congress at the time. Why didn't Democrats do more to cut government spending when they were in charge?"

It's the Musk Effect. Someone who sounds like a genius until he starts talking about something you're knowledgeable about, and you realize he's saying the dumbest shit ever.
Air traffic controllers are required by law to retire at 56. It is a high-stress, high-intensity job that requires intense focus. The retirement rules are there to keep us all safe. This fucking guy has no clue what's he's doing.

Every media figure who asks "but who is going to PAY for that?" every time a hungry kid gets a sandwich are going to stay totally silent, because capitalism insists that taking every last bit of wealth a nation of 400 million generates and giving it to 540 people is generative and sustainable.
"Taken together, the Bush tax cuts, their bipartisan extensions, and the Trump tax cuts would be responsible for more than 100 percent of the increase in the projected debt ratio, with the Trump tax cuts responsible for nearly one-third of the future growth in the debt ratio above 2024 levels."
Permanently Extending the Trump Tax Cuts Would Cost $4 Trillion Over the Next Decade
Permanently extending the Trump tax cuts would cost $400 billion per year and give the largest tax cut to extremely rich households.

Child allowances, free public universities, and public health insurance provision are not "hand-outs"; they are smart social policies that countries that aren't deeply dysfunctional and cruel provide their citizens because they make everything (including the economy) better.
