And not once in my undergrad psych degree was this even mentioned. We had to learn the history of psychiatry and research ethics for the BPS accreditation, but this didn't come up once.
In living memory the NHS tortured, at minimum, hundreds of LGBTQ+ people with electric shocks and chemical emetics. Mostly young people, including children. And nobody involved so much as lost their job over it.

This government loves to redo an independent reivew that was too independent and didn't produce the result they wanted
An independent taskforce *just* did a huge review of ADHD in England, and the conclusion was that it's "under-recognised, under-diagnosed and under-treated."

The NHS just did a big independent review that concluded that ADHD is still significantly under diagnosed and under supported.

But that's not the answer he wanted.

So he's ordering a new conclusion.

A thing that's common to a lot of "overdiagnosed" or "trendy" conditions is that historically they were mostly diagnosed when the people with them were causing a problem to somebody else. People better understanding themselves and being better able to advocate for their own needs is good, actually.

Things you can do:

Get vaxxed if you can - less effective doesn't mean wholly ineffective!

Wear an FFP2 or FFP3 mask in indoor public spaces & crowds. The more consistent you are, the better you'll be protected but any masking in shops, public transport, etc. reduces your risk & protects others.

Flu cases across Scotland jumped by 45% in a week, figures from Public Health Scotland show.

Yesterday saw a group of 4 young adults at bus stop working out what tickets they would need for their journey, calculating (correctly) that it would be significantly cheaper to get a taxi, and calling a taxi instead of getting on the bus right in front of them.
"Raising the cost of driving EVs discourages people from adopting the more sustainable option."

Cool, now do public transport.
It'd be cool if the "increasing the cost of motoring hurts poor people" people cared anything like as much about cost to people who rely on public transport - who are disproportionately likely to be poor and disabled, and who consistently face far greater increases in cost.

Hahaha, right?! Or what about mandatory disclosures for the discrepancy between the salaries of the CEO and their lowest paid worker? That would be so funny, right?! Let’s do it as a funny joke!!!

Great to hear Rachel Reeves acknowledge that "there are many reasons why people choose to have children then find themselves in difficult times. The death of a partner. Separation. Ill health. A lost job. I don’t believe that children should bear the brunt of that."

So why should migrant children?

the bbc changed their article from saying 'trans woman' to saying 'biological male who identifies as a woman'.

even if you don't care about trans ppl it should alarm you just how captured the bbc has become.

they will no longer even say 'trans woman'. that's not normal and shows massive bias.

Rachel Reeves says she’s ending “Motability tax breaks”.
Sounds like she’s cracking down on luxury cars, right?

That’s not what’s happening.

These changes raise costs for all disabled people on the scheme, including those with the cheapest cars.

Here’s how. 👇🧵

By not adjusting the income tax thresholds, Reeves has made income tax more regressive: the less you earn, the more you're paying proportionally compared to before

Delivery drivers aren't immune to motonormativity, and obviously it sucks and places unacceptable danger on cyclists and pedestrians, but read this and consider why delivery drivers sometimes park inconsiderately to be closer to their drop-off.

Urbanism and labour rights issues are inextricable.
My mum ordered a new freezer from AO and when the delivery van came, it did not have a tail lift - apparently the company won't pay for them

The two guys were expected to lift freezers, washing machines etc off the back of the van themselves...which does not seem safe

This guy can GTFO
There's an advert on his website for a 'Depot Supervisor' that pays £12.75 an hour for shift work.
If he wants to reduce welfare spending maybe he should pay staff enough that they don't need in-work benefits.
